Not a new build - A reno - New would have been easier I think

Anyone know a good electrician and heating guy? About 45 mins SW of edmonton so someone out that way would probably be easier. Still a long ways a way but need a quote for financing, getting plans on monday or tuesday.

That's what I'm thinking Brad...it will let any flow hit the tile before heading to the slab. PLUS...unlike sand it will not plug your weeping tile.
Retodd.......is there supposed to be any crush stone and compaction before a grade beam is set .... and* what is the usual gradebeam dimentions on an addition, single story not a full basement just a pony wall..........I have drawings that just don't seem right from a contractor that don't seem right either.........I guess i'm second guessing using these guys....

Nothing under your grade beam, although I did run a four inch pvc sewer line under mine to save digging later and also some smaller lines for water lines. Depends what you need. I'm guessing five foot walls then?? Some of it depends on where you live. In parkland county the minimum height is 5 ft. for a live in structure. Garages and shops are different.

Thanks......... the drawings have a width spec on them but I don't see a thickness........reno guy has it framed with 2x4....... just don't seem right to me.....also asked about rebar......horz and vertical ties for foundation wall to grade beam as well as* existing tie in points........ not allot of detail on the drawings....and the building code is referenced but no really specific..........seems to me* if the foundation isn't being done right what else won't be .Thanks

Ive seen guys with 2x4, I'm partial to something a little thicker but it depends how he has it framed. My cribber didn't tie in from beam to wall either. Like I said though it's all gotta pass inspection.

Are you talking grade beams or footings? What are the grade beams holding up?

I'm assuming he's talking footing.

OK...we mine are 18" wide and 10" deep. I had a compaction study done on the base after excavating and did not need any piles under the footings. There is rebar buried in the horizontal, the obvious sticking up in the vertical and grove around the entire perimeter:
