Interesting reply, Ron, so with 5G being faster and most likely more peeps playing games would you say that bogs the system down ? Also with a booster does it seem to make a difference if your on 5G or LTE? Been with Telus for ever but in some area's not so good like in/around saunders etc... Was thinking of a booster but common sense tells me that you cannot boost something that is not there to begin with. As for carriers i am sticking with telus cost a bit more but Rogers sux azz as the kids had that and it was terrible skiing for them. Bell is good buddy has that and works quite well around DT country just weird sometimes i guess. Back in the day had a bag phone and got out almost everywhere in the patch or simply just look for a pile of cans/cigs and that's the spot.:LOL: What is reccomended for a booster if a guy gets 1?
I have a $160 brand name unit I got off amazon. I’ll post when I’m back home. Helps a lot. I was able to talk on my phone all the way to Fairview through the valley and otherwise without it would not be possible. My employee has noticed a huge difference with it in the city however the power supply has a sudden issue so may have worked for 7 months. Has 2 year warranty so I’ll see what happens next.

Lots of guys run these, they're pricey but people seem to like them. Lots of oil patch trucks up here have one mounted.


Lots of guys have went to Starlink though, you have service literally everywhere you have a mostly clear view of the sky. Just run WiFi calling and use it over the Starlink, plus you get the benefit of unlimited high speed internet. If the Starlink Mini comes to Canada with it's $50/month plan for 50gb of data that might just be the ticket too.
It was that brand just a cheaper one. I’ll get this one for the replacement. This does assist, and you do need somewhat of a signal and this makes it way better

Couple years back I purchased a highly rated cell booster so I could continue to work on family camping trips (lol). I remember at the time the tech guy said to turn off 5G as it is short range and typically only for urban centers. He said 4G was best if out of urban areas as it has longer range, and using the booster with 4G would give me the best signal. When I went to 4G in some of the areas we camped, I didn't even need the booster.

Seriously thinking of switching providers and going with Koodoo as my current Telus provider is basically offering 0 loyalty offers. I don't use 5g anyway as it just drains the battery 15% faster. Of course you won't get the CS # to directly call when needed, don't have that issue anyway so i don't need to call. Curious as to what the transfer of Sim/current # part would be as Koodoo is purely call back CS. Would a person be able to port it themselves and would it be fairly seemless? Apprecaite the feedback from people with regards to this service provider and there service quality.

Btw, i do not use the phone for alot of video streaming either or games, rather use it for stay in touch prefrences.:)

FYI, Koodo is owned by Telus. It's their no-frills brand.

My Telus bill for 2 phones, internet, TV, and security was ridiculous.
First thing was to go to Koodo. That was a 50% discount on the 2 phones. Still Telus and good coverage where we are.
Did a deep cut to the TV programming and that was another bundle of savings.
They are all crooks and one has to make sure you get service where you need it and work them for every savings you can think of.
I even whined about being a senior and that the cost of living is hurting us at this time in our lives (it actually isn’t but they don’t know that). So basically, I told them I can’t afford all the fluff. "Get me down to basic services and see what I can save”.

Put telus and Bell against each other, go with who ever gives you the best deal, and don't be scared to leave your current provider. I have been doing this for years, keeping the same number, they cover "porting" the phone numbers. Been with Belk for awhile, telus just struck a deal with me for 2 lines unlimited calling text in North America, including Mexico, with 200gb of data for each line and it will be $130 after tax for both lines.
Bell said they couldn't touch that so I said see ya later.

Sometimes you have to remind them that you are the customer, and you were looking for a Mobility provider when you found the current one.

They typically call you back within 18 months with a better deal. I haven't been into a cell phone store in 10 years. But have switched between telus and bell 4-5 times. They ship the phone and sim cards right to the house or PO Box, even though they really don't like PO boxes. Just tell em the current provider figured it out.. so if you can't, then I guess you don't get the sale. Haha.

Been doing some research and the coverage for Alberta is generally pretty good with (Telus) for me, LD/Text with some data should suffice. As i do not need to share data or have multiple lines, 1 line is what i got. After doing some research and most peeps using wifi or a hotspot for streaming lengthy videos or Social media etc.. You can actually break it down by the average user in what they use per month data wise. Btw got cut off 3 times by telus in the chat and finally someone from Guatemala called me back from the Loyalty program and were still high in there rate's. I tried to explain politely what i needed but it sure seems that "Telus/Employee" did not work hard enough and only dropped the bill by 20$ and then said if you sign up for Auto payment then another 5$ which i thought was a joke. Looking forward to my CB today as i feel it's bye bye Telus for further savings, and i could care less if they throttle the data to 100mbs that is still pretty good, i don't need 250mbs to 1Gb while driving around and i don't run a laptop in my vehicle for work, so i should be ok.;) You can actually do alot with 50Gb data in a month.👇

Ya I’m thinking their network is overloaded big time and they aren’t putting money into expanding capacity, they really just seem to care about the cities. It’s been a bit better since I turned 5g off for good but still just freezes steady, 2 bars won’t do a damn thing until you airplane mode and back on again, I have to do that 10-20 times a day lately. I axed Telus on the internet and home security and told them the cell phones are next to get switched. In May our contracts are done, gonna be nice to walk away from these crooks

Ya i hear ya especially what they soak a guy for in this Nation for phone plans. Like ABMax said the whole 5G thing is overrated and only good Imo in urban settings, but yet drains your battery 15% faster too. Had a telus sales guy come by the other day offering me Internet for 100$ and all these add on security features at no extra cost (ie, door cam, locks etc..) locked in for 3 years. I told him i do not want any of it but he was persisitent until i said i had 2 dogs/hardware no need for security bs, which is useless anyway when the police only come after the fact and give you a file # so you can go through Ins. Cams are useless when all the criminals where masks anyway. I look forward to trying this new plan out at half the price and think it will work just fine for what i need. Just tired of paying for these Corps non existent service while they drive around in brand new vehicle's and try and upsell you, only later to tell you you will need a security plan for your security (Intrusive home devices) after your contract runs out. I need a phone that will work the rest is just a + if included for me.

To someone willing to knock the monthly bill down a bunch, I’m not paying top dollar for $hit, only liberals sit on their hands and do nothing about and accept it as it is. If all cell coverage is bad I might as well pay the least for it. Telus has done nothing but crank my bill up the last 3-4 years and offer a lesser quality service. I’ve been with Telus for 20 years. Used to be home phone, internet, tv, home security and cell phone. In the last 5-10 years I have moved everything to other providers because Telus has nearly doubled the cost of every service they provide and every service they provide here is an absolute joke, they used to be one of the only options and figured they could get away with not upgrading anything. Now there is other providers so screw them. I haven’t moved the cell phone because it was decently priced and provided the best service around here. Now in the last 3-4 years for sure my phone is steady not getting good service, lots of times right next to a buddies phone on the bell network that’s working fine. And they have bumped my price up 2 times in that time frame for no reason other than the usual bull$hit reason of “that plan no longer exists”

Just keep calling and complaining. Haven't checked prices in a while but after being a Karen for 2 years, my bill is $100 for 2 lines and 60gb. And that's with the $4 surcharge for using a credit card

Ya, I don't understand this business model. Give the best deals to 'new' customers when there is no penalty to leave. They all do it, so one could theoretically jump back and forth to maintain cheapest pricing. I did the bitch and complain thing for years with good results, but they wouldn't budge this last time around - hence me starting this thread.
I have to play the same game with SiriusXM. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Who knows, if this starlink thing works out, it might just shake things up a bit.
