RR gets the gold star :d They are 16 inches on center...these were placed for install today.

I looked at it then whipped out my plan...not landing a helicopter on my bedroom ceiling!!!

But it would be pretty cool if you did

Got lucky on the weather for this one. Front veranda poured Monday afternoon, stripped and washed on Tuesday. This was a big deal because it's a structural slab open to the basement, it's the roof of the wine cellar.

Stamped surface, black color. Looks like one big piece of slate. Brown aggregate exposed on all vertical's, steps will be the same. Ignore the date on the pic, camera fugged up.

What kind of quotes are you guys getting for boarding and taping? I realize I'm a little drive out of town, but some of these guys want to rake you over the coals.

I got a few quotes in the summer, all were very close.

Supply & install for insulation, vapor barrier, board, mud, tape & prime around 28k. That is for 9' ceilings upstairs & down, vaulted ceiling in great room, waterboard in bathrooms, finished garage w/12 ft ceilings with type x fireboard between garage & house.

What type of insulation were they quoting? I haven't looked for quotes, but would be interested in who you got quotes from.

Due to our flat roof design we are going with a two coat spray in insulation...it is insulation and vapor barrier all in one shot. Two quotes being written as I type.

Get ready, you're gonna need some of this:eek:

IIRC it's been a while taping was 40 cents for wall, 80 cents for ceiling. But the end price for 10,000 sq/ft of wall, and 4000 sq/ft of ceiling was $10,000ish. But the extras came from being 10 ft walls main floor, with a lot of vaulted ceiling, 9 ft downstairs with a lot of bulkheads and all windows in the house drywall returns. And that was for rounded corners, cause I believe they were double the price of square.

Charged a tiny bit extra to, because the drywall wasn't done perfect as I did most and I ain't a pro at it.

I'd give you the name, but I wouldn't get him personally for the size of place you guys are doing. Was a single guy crew, took him a month to do it. Did an amazing job (ALL by hand) but just took to long.

One thing I would recommend though is coordinate your painter and taper, get two guys who work together well. That way you'll get a perfect finish and no problems with one blaming the other if some doesn't turn out well.

Closed cell or open cell foam? Again I would be interested in the quotes. I would like to do exterior walls in 2lb closed cell(blue) but I have a feeling the jar of vaseline above isn't big enough.

Not totally sold on the open cell (Icynene), depending on the interpretaion of the Building Code by the jurisdiction, vapour barrier may or may not be required. Amazingly Strathcona County lets you by without!!

Closed...it is defiantly more costly, how much...not too sure yet. Its going in the ceiling no matter what...wall application will be determined by cost differential.

I never knew until I was told that when you have a styrofoam (advantage ) basement built, that the walls must be drywalled or
painted with fire resistant paint before you can move in. Fire code is the reason, who knew ?

Do you know how much drywall went into your house as far as square footage goes?
