Buddy...she's a no brainer!!
That new Etec rips..Ask Ken Reich. By far the best stock sled out there!
I will be buying one by mid month..rode it a few times now and the thing is incredible!
No stock nytro is gonna best a stock 800 skud in the deep snow or hills. The durability and lower cost of maintenance of the yammy is reality, the clutching is far better and way less frustrating. What I see as interesting is where they've taken the pricing, you can actually buy a new boosted nytro for only a couple thousand bucks more than a stock e-tec. Then the choice is gonna become a bit fuzzier for folks unless they wear the BRP vision goggles, cause out inthe hills the only ones who believe the e-tec is gonna better the boosted sled is the e-tec guys who have already made their decision based on color.
Have heard a few people make comment on the new e-tec beating a nytro 180 turbo setup at altitude. I am very surprised. Does the Nytro have a hack install and is the Nytro not properly set up? That is very impressive if the e-tec does beat it!!! Still will never believe it until I see it in person. Doesn't really matter as long as you are having fun though!
Anyone who says nytro and anything other than summit (with or without e-Tec) in the same sentence obviously has other Brand goggles on.
All brands at times can have an an issue to deal with. Especially those that might lead in a new development, and as we all know, BRP leads in many developments.
In 2008 when their clutch builder changed, Ski-Doo did have some inconsitencies, which got corrected. 2009 was resolved, and 2010 was about as perfect as any brand could do. Today, the Clutching comments are very questionable.
On maintenance, I'd much sooner pour a small amount of good oil into an injection tank than deal with the painful oil-change process and costs that some 4-stroke sleds have.
But that's me.
For the last few, I ride Ski-Doo, cuz year by year they just work better for me than anyting else I've tried, and will continue to -doo so, as long as they continue to lead in or on the snow, goggles or not.
And I have watched a stock e-Tec 800 outrun a boosted Nytro in a fair and simple pull in altitude. Needs more than boost to win, the roost needed money thrown at it too.
180 vs 160 hp..
that 20hp dissapears very quick when adding an aditional 100lbs

180hp vs 115hp.......you do ride at 6500-7000ft ? 10hp takes care of 100lbs quite handily. Who is setting up these turbo's you ride with? Maybe you should ride one of ours. I have a nice stock 162 Nytro here with a 180 kit on that is pretty impressive, I might bring it up over the holidays. I just couldn't sit back and read any more of this bs without throwing .02 in.
I don't know who is concerned about changing 3.2 litres of oil and a filter once a season. if you can service a chaincase I'm sure you can handle that. Lot's of people get their sleds serviced anyway as there is a lot more to maintenance than oil.
who rides stock anyhow?? a 180 kit nytro would destroy my modded rev.....I know because I rode the nytro 180 last week and it dosen't even compare! and I'm sure that my rev is faster than a new xp!
