yes that is also a good thing with the hub but it only works in areas that Telus has no fibre optic service. Took ours while moving our daughter from BC to Calgary and worked great as long as we had cell coverage but once in city limits it didn't work so I called Telus and they told me the hub does not work in urban areas where they have other coverage. They think of everything!

Other bonus with hub is it's portable. Take it to lake for weekend or camping if there is Telus cell service.

Had the same thing happen to me. God forbid you only have to pay once for wifi coverage. Bunch of thieving bastages.

My Dads Telus hub battery expanded and the hub was acting up.

No charge new hub.

But now when you active them they lock to,the closest tower. No more travelling with them. Darn. Was nice to take camping

You guys need to move to Nordegg. When i was camping at Goldeye, we did a speed test and it was consistently 270+ Mbps on LTE haha. Faster than what I'm paying for on fibre optic here in Calgary

I had xplornet and switched to Telus smart hub. It was the best change for our Internet provider. Plus you can try for free for 14 days if you pick it up yourself from a Telus distributor or 30 days if you order it through Telus on line. I only have 1-2 bars cell service signal and it works fine for us. I live outside the sylvan lake area.

It's just like any other "rural internet " ;it sucks. Ours was awesome when we first got it and Telus claimed they weren't going to over sell it. But. Guess what. They lied . They only time we get decent service is mid day during the week and probably in the middle of the night.

Mikey I think Telus is trying to keep you quite by censoring you...........:nono::rant:

Starlink my rural friends.
Still waiting for them to tell me it's available in my area.

Sounds like some not great results in inclement weather on them too. But time will tell.... Xplornet is pissing us off big time.

For my Dads use Telus hub will be fine. He is 81. And in no rush at seniors home.

I asked Telus dude why the hub now locks to tower. He said so many people traveled with them some campgrounds had 30 hubs. Stalled the tower out.

That being said. If you take it camping. Just reset it when you arrive. It locks to that tower. And repeat when you get home.
I will try with Dads hub this summer

They work good. Able to stream IPTV and Netflix without issues. Needs a reboot fairly often for some reason. Id get the Hub over any satellite option
