Sidewinder Effect - where does four stroke go from here?

Yeah I am sure this will spur on a response from someone who has one they can weigh.

Have you ridden a winder yet?

No hurt myself and didn't get much riding done in December. I'll be out with one real soon though, and I am hearing good things about them.

A 174 summit xm is 547 wet. They gained 40lbs this year?? I don't think so. I think that picture is bogus? probably had 2 jerry cans on the back...lol
G4 feels lighter to unstuck then a XM to me.

that picture was taken at my dads shop and there's no bs in it. The 850 does have electric start tho. It is full of fuel, oil, antifreeze, spare belt and has a empty tunnel bag on the back. We were all very surprised on the weight of those things They are heavy.....

Yeah that is heavy. Skidoo says the 165 is 441lbs dry. 150lbs of fluids?? Really? Something isn't adding up.

one thing is for sure with yamaha, this new engine will be bullet proof. Yamaha doesn't rush stuff to market and this engine will be around for a long time.

Just for you Dan I'll get that 850 on the scale again and I'll take the pic so the whole sled is visible. Polaris say they are 410 but they weigh in at 540 pounds rtr. I don't really know why manufacturers weigh them dry.... Never seen a guy who can ride a sled with no antifreeze or fuel yet.

Just for you Dan I'll get that 850 on the scale again and I'll take the pic so the whole sled is visible. Polaris say they are 410 but they weigh in at 540 pounds rtr. I don't really know why manufacturers weigh them dry.... Never seen a guy who can ride a sled with no antifreeze or fuel yet.

Take the tunnel bag off too.
Maybe it weighs 40-50 lbs lol.

I believe you.But why does snow west magazine say it is 536 wet? Skidoo payed them off maybe?

At the end of the day 40-50 lbs either way doesn't really matter if it handles well. From everyone who has ridden a SW, they say they hide the extra weight well. Same goes for those that ride the 850 and claim to over ride them.
I've dug out xm's, xp's, pro's, m8's and I couldn't tell you if one was heavier than the other. They all suck when they are trenched deep in bottomless. Only thing consistent is the longer the track, the more work they were to get out.

If Yamaha comes out with a 174 track and a coil over rear shock for next year they will get some people's attention. This sled is the real deal. If they build that,would be the first sled I would buy and leave it stock.

Or ride them without wearbars on the skis. That's another OEM dry weight stunt.

Ski-doo has the 900 ACE weighs 22 lbs more than the 850, which is in the ballpark in my mind. Turbo is close to net zero lbs by the time you pull the suitcase off.

BRP turbos their four strokes for a reason.
Having said that,
I'd be cool with a factory turbo 2 stroke too.
The ace engine would be a good lighter power plant to start with. But they cant handle boost lots guys in the jetski racing world have been using the motor in stand up jetskis and all the internals need to be upgraded
