nice hound! Doodles are definitely a bit thicker than the Poodles. ours is such a suckey tit, he is scared to leave the campsite without backup....but he's the world's toughest dog when mom is with him. Here is another Scary one Teeroy...Keep those Therapist busy..lol
the folks i camp with that don't have the 6v system usually have to run theirs for at least a few hours each day to keep their batteries up. may long I heard them fire up in the wee hours because their furnaces would run the batts down. the onboard gennys in the gear box haulers are pretty loud, another buddy has a jayco toy hauler and the onan in that unit is loud as well. And speaking of generators, we have 2 - 6 volt deep cells and even over the cccold, snowy long weekend we did not have to run our generator at all. Batteries were fine running the furnace for three days. There was a camp within our vicinity that ran thier noisy gen from 8AM to 11PM. Not sure why as they all seemed to be sitting outside by the fire. Maybe Grandma was inside watching soaps.
Next time I will ask.....if only to satisfy my own curiosity.
My new railer has a big solar panel on top, woundering how long U can go. They tell me forever but we'll see!
It has 2 12 marine batts in it, but as soon as they are toast, it will be 6's all the way.
if you can't rough it for a few days and keep the electrical appliances at home, than you are not really camping. Buy a really good sleeping bag and wear long johns at night to stay warm.
Frankly, if you're in a queen size bed, in a trailer with a furnace and a fibreglass roof, you sure as hell aren't 'roughing it'. Electrical appliances or not.
roughing it is highly over rated, especially by those that have to.:d
you were random camping and your hubby went over to someone and said that? if anyone came over to my camp out in the middle of nowhere and threatened me with damage to my personal property, he would have a lot more than a genny running all night to worry about. damn skippy....We have always put solar panel on roof of all our units and have NEVER had battery issues. We also have a very good sleeping bag and only have the furnace on the lowest setting and only in the early spring or late fall is it ever on. What I hate is when gensets are on ALLNIGHT.
I find that a lot of people buy these big expensive untis so than can have the comforts of home, if you can't rough it for a few days and keep the electrical appliances at home, than you are not really camping. Buy a really good sleeping bag and wear long johns at night to stay warm.
The one noise problem we had mentioned in earlier post, was a guy who kept his genset running all night, it was a noisy one. Hubby went over the next morning, very cranky from lack of sleep and told the guy if it was on again all night it would not run properly after that. The guy said he needed it to nuke the babies bottle, yeah right, do it the old fashion way, on the stove in a pot of water. Any way the guy turned it off early the next night. This was at Bighorn in the middle of July. By the way we never did see a baby there. And how do these people possibly sleep themselves when these things are running? I don't get it.
what's with the private campsites you go there for a weekend you get a list of rules and a group of campers come in and party till 2 or 3 let there dogs not dog run all over the campsite and not 1 person does anything if your not going to inforce the rules then don't make them if you want to party till 3 and let your dogs run free then randem camp out in the back some where we have 2 small kids we don't need your friendly dog scaring them
truth....I have a hard enouh time talking my family into going camping if it is anything less than a bluebird weekend.roughing it is highly over rated, especially by those that have to.:d
It's not unreasonable IMO. Like you said, who the hell wants to drive out in the backcountry to be "alone" and then camp right next to someone? Tons of room out there, find your own space peeps!
