===== QUOTE mudd kitty ====

We were at machesis and yes we partied till about 3 one night and we had one of our 3 dogs off leash as he is "friendly" and a puppy well 5 months. I really do apologize if it was us.

And for future reference if someone(s) was ruining my camping weekend I (being an adult) would go ask the other campers to quiet down please and leash their dog!! Then me probably being the annoying neighbor would apologize profusely and comply. But if it was some little bastards then I would probably complain to the camp attendant......just sayin

Dont U kind of conderdict yourself? I beening a adult would know the rules and have respect for others camping. I beeing the adult and not have to be told how to behave...just saying! I have not camped alot but it does seam to be a pretty standard set of rules across the bourd does it not?

I have dogs, it to me is totaly a respect for others. I love my dog...that does not mean everyone else in the world does. As for as the ch!t, I clean it up...and there is a alot of it, so when I see some clown with a little purse dog and they dont clean it up, I freak! "not to saw they are the only afenders" it just seams more commen to me!

No contradiction just misconception that I said "responsible" adult!!

I was only stating what I would do should I find myself in that situation! I being an adult chose to do things like drink till 3am and let my dog off leash....at the same time willing to accept punishment for my crimes!!

I being an adult would confront a situation I am unhappy with and try to solve the problem!

In this particular circumstance I am the problem because I love to stay up past bedtime and get hammered while camping !! As well as let my dog run off leash .....but in my own defence he listens really well for a pup and we play fetch a lot which is quite difficult while leashed!!

Either way just my piece view it as you wish ;)

You my friend, would make a great "Random" camper. You may also find by doing so that the Rash on your azz goes away from not having to use the rules pamphlet to wipe it. Good luck.

Man, if I had a dine for every time I heard somone say "my dog listens well".

Yeah, I have two dogs that listen well too...when they choose to...like most dogs. So what happens when the pup deecides one day not to listen and ends up my camp, close enough to my 2 chained dogs whom decide he is lunch. Are you willing to accept that responsibility and that of having my daughter forever traumitized as she watches your pup being torn apart. Not ever likely my dogs would do that, becasue they listen to well to me, but what if!!?? They are an animal after all, with much better instincts than you and I!

What I don't understand is why being in the bush can make some people down right wonky. What about the common set of rules that we all try to follow while camping anywhere. It's not difficult!

Whoa....I just ranted....again.....must be an off day. Good reason for me to stay away form Boydo's "complaining" thread.

To put a positive spin back into this thread, maybe we should post up some of the rules. How about the written, unwritten and maybe some common sense items.

My dog listens well....... TO ME.... wife calls, kids call, neighbor calls, brother calls....dog could give a chit....until I say "Get over here" then he comes....I don't trust my dogs around people they don't know, if they hurt someone it would kill me to have to shoot them....but I would....
At home once they see that I've allowed someon onto the property they are fine, but if that same person came back the next day when I wasn't home...look out...

I agree with you that if a dog is running free and wanders into another campsite and get's his ass kicked, it's that dog's owner's responsibility. But, what if YOUR dogs get loose from their leash and leave your campsite? Are they going to put others in danger? If they are going to rip apart another dog for just being around, then I certainly wouldn't trust them around children. If so, you should leave them at home because I can tell you, if any aggressive dogs come into my campsite, I'll deal with them very harshly. My kid's safety is one hell of a lot more important than your dogs. I don't understand why people even need to bring aggressive dogs around people, or for that matter, keep aggressive dogs period. Children don't know how to avoid aggressive dogs. Aggressive dogs are dangerous period.

<------- there always seems to be a little too much of this now days.....whether it be on the internet, public venues, or camping....

Possibly because there are so many more people around that have no respect for anyone else.

i agree with both parties here i think in different ways......i have two dogs and would have no problem leaving my female dog off leash due to the fact i know she would never leave my site.....as she likes to stay as close to me and the gf as possible.......but i would not take her off leash if she proceeded into others sites......the other people pay for those sites for the night, there for they have the distinct right not to have someone else's dog on they're site at all under any circumstance.....hence my other dog stays tied up at all time, not due to the fact he's gunna hurt anything or anyone, just because he likes to wander, and go see other people.....also with the running free, due to the fact i know my one dog wont wander i know the chit stays in my site for me to clean up......someone has to clean these places, and i dont think it should be up to them to pick up chit spread through out the woods.....and it sucks when a kid goes to play and steps in it.......if your dog cannot stay in YOUR site.....yes it should be tied, if your dog is well enough trained to stay on your site at all time and isnt running out into the roadway, or into the woods or other sites i cant see anyone complaining in the first place.

mudd kitty i dont think its friendliness or running free, or how well trained they are people are referring to here, its the mess, and inconvenience they entail when someone elses animal wanders onto they're site. or maybe having a child thats timid of dogs that is uncomfortable with them running free.......everyone deserves to enjoy they're camping trip, with and without pets.....if you want to let your dog run maybe find a feild or open area where you can throw a ball or a stick where it has your undivided attention ....because i know very well that no matter what you say.....if you are sitting around a fire with friends, or cooking, even just hanging out you are not paying full attention to the dog, where it is, and where it is doing its business..........holey chit didnt realize how much i typed.....

I like Plio7's comments. Must be related to Bogger.

Mudd Kitty, don't take it too personally. I'm not trying to attack you. Just responding in general. I get a bit fired up about dog stuff.

And for the record, my dogs are NOT aggressive savages and I state that in the post. I was making a point by example. Been around dogs a long time, long enough to know that they have minds of their own and instincts. Even the best trained dogs have moments where they make bad decisions. What about the need to chase!? What abou the many dogs that are of leash in a site and rush other dogs that walk by. Sometimes the owners are aware and can call their dogs back quickly, but many are too late. They are animals after all. One of my favourite off leash area comments...."my dog has never done THAT before". Dogs are territorial by nature and will protect their pack....by insticnt! I teach kids that they should always avoid strange dogs and ask any owners before approaching. There is a proper way to approach dogs as well. It irks me big when I see parents let their kids randomly approach dogs in an off leash area. These dogs are in an excited state and anything is possible.

To try and get back on topic a bit, when camping I will usually go introduce myself to other dog people and meet the dog (I would yours too Mud Kitty). If all is good then we might introduce our dogs together and establish the pack rules. If by chance any of the dogs get off leash and decide to visit at least I know it and have a better idea what to expect. Still, my kid and other small kids in our camp will be kept at a distance to ALL the dogs. Even my own gentle giants. Dogs have bad days too. I always am aware of where my kid is and what she is doing, same with the dogs.

Ever watch how a group of random campers react when a strange large dog comes walking into camp. Everyone is uneasy...for a moment.

Anyway, I think this thread is going a bit off topic, although it's a good one. Point is respecting thy neighbour.

Anyone want to get into a generator discussion :d

Might not be a good idea right now...I've had a couple pops.

what's with the private campsites you go there for a weekend you get a list of rules and a group of campers come in and party till 2 or 3 let there dogs not dog run all over the campsite and not 1 person does anything if your not going to inforce the rules then don't make them if you want to party till 3 and let your dogs run free then randem camp out in the back some where we have 2 small kids we don't need your friendly dog scaring them

Rules are rules...you'd think  Maybe camping at Walmart ain't so bad after all. At least you have security patrolling after 9pm :d
