Hahaha..........Back in the day, I remember going to Kuster’s on a Mr. R’s invite. Bev and I both rode the newest and bestest (at the time) and she monopolized the test riding. On the way back to the hotel, the discussion was had and we ended up buying two. Happy riders and happy dealer! Enough said.
Yep Carl always had all his sleds in top form for those demo rides. He’s a great asset for that program. Sells a lot of sleds for dealers giving them good running product for their demo customers.

Good day all, got the chance to put a full day on the new 858, not my sled I rode SRP's brand new machine and all I can say is this is an Ok sled not a great sled and so glad I did not buy one. It is better than the demo's we rode but not much better, I feel bad for Cat cuz deep down I am a Cat guy but man does this sled need refinement. The one thing that I will say positive is the sled definitely handles much better than my Alpha, much lighter feel and more precise and it seems small when you are on it, track is great as always and it is the reason this thing chews so well. The clutching is better than the demos but man the bottom end is so lame but the top end is pretty strong and with some clutching this should get better forsure. My nitpick complaints, it still vibrates a lot, feel it in the feet, bars just like something isn't right with the motor mounts, the pull rope location sucks and all day its multiple pulls to start it and the tether is in the way so many times it disconnected during the pull of the rope. The big thing was all the bogging, just randomly did it for most of the day and quite frankly it was hard to ride because of it, now towards the end of the day we were close to the 5 hour break in mode and it did seem to get much better and the power seemed like it added 5 hp so hopefully it is a break in problem, otherwise there is gonna be many of these available on marketplace soon ha ha. Overall I enjoyed my day on this machine, would not buy one but time will tell what these do with a turbo etc maybe with good mapping and some aftermarket fixes this will be a good sled, this is my opinion not a bash of the machine, I just try to give an honest report, did anyone have a better experience?

I spent Sunday riding with buddy his first day on his 858. He is coming off a 23 G5T and a 24 khaos boost. The break in was rough and he ended up doing the first 15 min of break in on a trackstand at home to avoid issues on the hill and fouling plugs. I didn't have a chance to try it but he was very happy with it handling wise and said the power was pretty decent after it came out of the 3hr secondary break-in time. Seems to be the highest build quality Cat in quite a few years.

We. I have to revive this thread as it seems that my caption is becoming more relevant as now there is some engines going down on these sleds, could it be because of bad harmonics which cause a whole lotta vibration or just a poor design? If you go to Hugo Drarig insta you can see his destroy itself and I have heard Muskokas has gone down as well for the second time but we will have to see if that is true or if he posts it, I have a feeling that this is gonna be an interesting time for Cat owners as you have to wonder what parts availability is gonna be like? I also wonder how many of these are gonna make it through the season, man this is blow after blow for Cat.

The motor mount design is terrible on those 858s few buddies who are cat diehards spotted that and said they beleaved those mounts would cause issues

The dream of building a 4 stoke catalyst is getting better. When these crap out and no parts available they will hit rock bottom. Throw in a reliable 270 hp sidewinder engine in that chassis and hang on.

Or nothing. What’s a Cat with a Yamaha engine going to be worth resale? Seeing that both companies are going away for the foreseeable future?
