Over Air Highspeed... I am intrigued. Tell me more buckfiddy... What is it? Like MCS net, or Xplornet?

I have the Air/ High speed and Buck 50 is correct - It has to be line of sight ( via your roof top) to the nearest transmission tower or it does not work. If you have line of sight then you are good to go at your home location ( i.e not portable ). We pay $50/month for basically unlimited data ( I think we have a high limit but we have never exceeded that limit no matter how much we use it) . Also we were able to keep our old e-mail adress / account as we had with dial up from 6 years ago

like xplornet, excatly!!!!!! you have to be able to see a tower, then you get a sat dish looking deal on your house, and wambo bingo you have high speed internet! just something to look into! like i said, i have a bell stick, and am thinking of switching! just have to make sure we have a visual on a tower, which may be hard with all the tall trees around my place. but i think we can do it!

I tried Xplorenet. Paid $50 for them to come to my house, climb on my roof and tell me there was no sight to tower. That if we chose, we could pay 700 bucks for a sat system that had serious limitations, and may be spoty in service due to our location.

MCS Net has a tower on Kehewin hill, but it's just a bit too short for us to catch the waves even if we pay 700 bucks for a 40' tower. I called and asked when they were thinking about extending the tower, they told me they were too busy with the Strathcona area to bother with the tower on Kehewin hill.

Telus only has dial up out there, so I don't want to pay to get a phone line trenched to only have dial up. I asked when they were looking at getting DSL, they told me not in the forseeable future.

Bell doesn't do internet off your dish anymore.

I have exhausted all my resources! I didn't want to go with a mobile stick, but I really have no choice!

I don't youtube a lot, so I should be safe. Just nice to have the net available when you want to look up stuff, or need to buy crap online, or pay bills.

We have Davinci Broadband right now but Telus is launching Wireless Smarthub for residential. We are looking into that since they won't provide a true landline to our house. I guess it's not worth the cost of trenching to our lot. The Smarthub is $65 a month and includes the phone line, 2500 daytime minutes and internet access. Somewhere around 7.5MB/sec (I think) and 5GB a month. I think it's $.05 a MB over the 5GB. I have to try can call them back to find out if there are any equipment fees.
The trick is getting a hold of Telus (this division). We've been waiting since February to find out about a land line, wireless POT or the Smarthub.

We use these at work all the time. Bell or Telus are the only 2 choices for "good" coverage in the west. If you are not planing on traveling with it and you have Rodgers it will work for you but Rodgers is very limited with coverage when compared to Bell and Telus out side of the urban area

We use Telus sticks with our Husky laptops. They seem to work really well. I can surf the net almost all the way to Edmonton; after I get down to Hinton. It actually works faster when I am in the GP office at meetings than the guys that choose to plug into the Husky system, rather than use their sticks while they are in the office.
