Yup that's where the gate with the key pad is. They must call the office or know the code or have a key fob. Didn't look easily accessible to the public is what I am saying.

give them a call or go in there office, i used it once but it wasn't open on weekends, thus i use flying j , rocky dump or innisfail or penhold. i don't want to pay a fee either, but the last time i was at penold i was 15th in line, the 10 bucks would have been cheap.

guess i read it diferently, as far as i know the campground is run by the red deer lions club, which is a charity that raises money through the campground for funds for the community, province etc.

there was a change in site managers this year as far as i know. as to the dumping charge, it is up to them what they feel is a fair charge. lbz, says he uses the site due to location and convenince, there are other sites around town. if the dumping fee is too much he may have to find an alternative as it is his choice.

Rocky is 5 bucks and that's the most I have ever seen. Most places are free.

5 bucks is just about too much unless Ur dumping like 200 gal of turds.

Some tanks are only 30 gal.

in town here there is a dump station that can accommodate 2 trailers at once, and you have to park across from each other. so I get the hose out and hook it up and open the valve, this old dude across from me walks to his valve, pops the cap, and pulls open the gate valve....no hose! I fawkin jumped back as to not get his sh!t all over my shoes, I was stunned. his crap and toilet paper and weekend worth of sh!t and p!ss splashing all over the concrete....I didn't know whether to punch him square in his face, or cry, or run....after it emptied he took the rinse hose and washed it all down the drain but I mean come the fawk on......do that crap at night with no one around or something. or buy a fawking 10 dollar sewer hose FFS....

haha, pretty much, i'm thinking that tex was saying that lbz, should go out to rocky to dump his septic, as it is only $5, as to dump at the lions costs $10, hmm might cost the guy an extra $50 to $75 to go to rocky tex. big savings. if he where to be 15 in line at the free dump site already the $10 at the lions is a real deal right tex. if he has to go miles out of his way is there a big $5 cost savings tex. shiit the lions is convenient and close to his house, yes the $10 sucks but in reality it may be cheaper than your alternative, shall i keep friggin going.

Just was trying to say that for a small tank like a trailer over 5 bucks is like way over what it costs or worth no matter if it is in the lions pocket.

Say it costs 2.50 for 50 gal of waist for fees. A 5 buck fee is just about 100% mark up.

Kind of government like eh.

It sure don't cost 10 bucks plus gst ( $10.50) for 50 gal.

If I'm coming through Rocky I usually dump there. And IIRC it's by donation.
If coming from north of Sylvan, I dump at the UFA. Both are free. Both were easy and good to use.
Everywhere else I was coming from I was doing it at Lion's, paying $4 and then $5 last year. I get that, in 15 years, the cost of utilities has gone up slightly, but it hasn't gone up over 100% in 6 months. So I don't see the justification for $10.50 and thats what pissed me off. That and the attitude at the gate-and the two quarters I gotta dig through the ashtray to find-gimme a break. I know other places were charging $5-$10, but they all are built stupid, or don't have water or are out of the way so I didn't want to use them.

IMO Lions just did it as a cash grab and nothing else which is something that rubs me the wrong way for some reason. It's not so much the cost, but the reasoning behind it.

And as to whether or not the Lion's get any of the revenue they generate, I have my doubts. I have emailed the chamber of commerce to ask that question. I know what the Lion's do for the community, and I support it and honestly would feel a little better about the whole deal if I know they get a portion of it.
