I went around yesterday and looked at the water laying in my fields after this last 2 inches of rain feeling bad and then saw your pictures and realized how lucky I am compared to you folks. I really feel for you guys. Those pictures are depressing.YES rain!!! bluesky AB 1" biggest 1 shot rain fall in 7 years! Glad to hear Scott you got a shot too!
Just PLEASE keep it out west.
here are some pics of what some of the areas in MB look like
Pic 1) East of Ashern MB, lake MB, which has moved 4 miles inland from shore line . It is expected to rise atleast another 2 feet by aug 1
Pic 2) hay field/pasture
pic 3) right hand side of fence line is/was an alfalfa seed field
pic 4) west side of Fairford bridge, the only way (above ground) water goes from LAke MB to Lake WPG.
pic 5) looking at bridge of same river east side, not much room considering the lake will rise another 2'
Pic 6,7,8) this was the view all the way up hiway #6 for over 200 kms, water all both side of road, fields flooded, not seeded, or seeded with heavy water damage (pic 7)
travelling lots looking at our contracted crops, grass fields look awesome and so do some of the legumes. Will keep you updated with what i see. Producers here in MB have pre sold very little, some nothing, and some who did are now buying back contracts. It should be an interesting year.
Our flood fight here is only going to get worse and all rivers, streams, lakes, are full and more to come. It is gonna be a mess and worst is yet to come, we are expecting this mess rite thru the summer/fall and then freeze up. Then the destruction from the ice during thaw will to the finishing touches on any cottages or homes near the lakes
