I thought the etecs could go a year on a gallon of oil? Are they not better on oil than powerteck engines? If so, why all the fuss?

You also might want to confirm the jetting, needles, main jets, etc as stock. Alot of triple pipes were sold for these in the day which required different jetting. Clutch's are first place to go for bogging issues, then synching the carbs as suggested.
80 mph on the gauge is about normal for a summit. What track length? They are geared for high elevation. I had a 2008 summit 154 and saw 95 mph on the gauge but they are not really designed for high speed trail running. Clicker 2. It all depends on conditions anyway.
