I’ve notice a few units for sale by owner that are still well within break in. Is there added value if it’s in a store over a guys garage?

Absolutely.

Stored inside, heated -- means it got thawed out regularly and didn't live it's whole life in the sun or as an ice cube.

Also value in enclosed trailered vs sled deck vs v nose.

A lot of dealers leave their used/uncrated holdovers outside in the elements.

I will never buy a sled that travels on an open trailer on the highway. The salt just kills them and eats/corrodes everything

I picked up a dealer demo with 600k on it. Third trip it died on the hill. Dealer says absolutely its still under warranty so bring it in and we will figure it out. I'm sure they are optimistic because i've lead them to believe its an electrical issue.
Anyway, i'm heading back to BC on Friday to meet the chopper to fly it out. My question is, should warranty cover the cost of the chopper to get a mountain sled off of the mountain? ( assuming the problem is found to be a warrantable issue)

Wow, they wanted you to pay out of pocket for a brand new sled that started on fire? Oil lines are a wear item, maybe you wore them out and caused the problem yourself. What a joke.

I’m strong believer regardless the dealer they are taught to try to get the customer to pay up front. They prob get 1-10 guys that prob just will. Then they try for warranty. I took it apart before dropping it off to see what they would come back with. I was waiting for a sir you have a aftermarket can which dissipated extra heat and your headlight delete reduced air flow .

Understand your frustration as well. Fortunately they covered everything got me back on the snow. Minus one trip of riding...

Ha good luck.
Unless it's a problem that you and the dealer have identified in advance and they told you to run it.

To each their own - I've had wayyy less problems with my Cats then I've had with my wife's Pro or my previous Doo's. I think all of them have there strong / weak points, but I've never had to tow out my Cats yet.

Well I have pulled out a cat lol

If one of the cats I ride with breaks down they will never let me tow them out with the turbo apex or the turbo viper. Funny how that works. Had a starter go to sh!t on the viper got towed home by a cat, pictures posted everywhere. Hahaha.
But back to the thread is your warranty that is at the manufacturer's discretion worth the 4000 difference. A hold over has warranty and basically is new.

I have to completely agree with this comment. I have owned Cat's and Yamaha's through out the 80's and 90's. I had very few issues with all of them. Got into the Doo's in 2000 and for the next nearly 10yrs nothing but problem's with my sled's, from engines going down to clutches and stators, on and on. In 2010 i finally stepped away from Doo and since have not had any issues. I just ride.
Some people believe that is normal and just part of owning a sled...wow really. Yes each to their own, just like people are easily fooled on gimmickry.

I think warranty or insurance should cover at least one chopper ride. Too bad it doesn't. If a manufacturer or insurance company offered this it would be a selling feature.

I know a guy who’s 2 day old 2008 dragon broke down deep in the mtns. He called Polaris everyday for a month straight, they gave in and organized a heli pick up for it.
