Our relieves out in Eastern Ontario bought 2 of the Ram 1500 Eco diesel trucks,,, great trucks, but the little diesels are not good trailer pullers.

They work ok on the smaller bumper pull holiday units 19' too 22' @ 4500 lbs range, but not the best with the 27' to 30' fifth wheels at 8700 too 11.800 lbs.

The little motor is working double over time, and the transmission is shifting alot.

Yes. It needs more Dialing in, but still good on fuel in truck mode.

They won't be doing any more of the small diesel units as they need grunt for farm operations.
They get good fuel mileage with the Dodges 2500/3500 and the Duramax units.

Plus they can latch onto those 40.000 lb trailers too get stuff done.

Theres no resale added in as these units will return to the dirt once all 4 corners are caved in. Ha.

Eco comes at a cost, might not be at original sale time,,, but when warranty is done watch out my friends.

I'll be gas motor as my time is limited on this planet.
I'll let the companies I run for foot the end-less bills as they try too keep all 120 power units running.

$5000 too $18.000 every week when they come back too shop on a trailer.

Seen a few $45 too $66 G bills this winter. All in with shop labours,,, yes,,, that's with a "s"... More like this $ s.

Don't be fooled as pollution control is way better then the old systems, but when they need service,,, the major service,,, it will drain the wallet.

No warranty on 98% of our units as the delete kits snuffed that option.
Our shop is lucky since they have all the bells and whistles too handle the smallest too the largest in equipment in our province.

Lucky indeed.

My buddy just bought a 2016 with the cummins. I have to say fully loaded it is a nice truck. Problem is he has had it for 3 months and has spent half its life in the shop. Lots of recalls, sensor issues, burn a full tank of DEF per tank of fuel, ecm issues on and on and on. I hope he gets it figured out because it is a nice truck with some good potential.

Ya, I've see many you tube vids talking about their issues this afternoon. But I do agree it has many bells and whistles, might be a truck to wait for once they get the kinks out

I've considered this , but from what I've heard the engine is a smaller diesel. I've heard the Hemi is better for pulling. But I dunno...

I think the Eco diesel is rated for less towing then the hemi. Not sure what the titans are for towing?

The diesel Titan is rated for 12k lbs... That being said after demoing it for a night I think thats a bit on the light side... It drove like my 2500.

But... The issue with it, is how little the payload actually is... In a crew cab configuration with some gadgets it leaves you with less then 2000lbs payload. You would have to be really careful how your trailers are loaded to hit 12000 lbs without hitting the payload... Pretty much have to use the gooseneck, or massive counterbalances.

Just called Nissanservice dept. I asked how often are the oil changes and how much. They said$1000 every 16k. This is a must service in order to maintain the warranty.Yikes.... I called dodge they said $350 every 12k on the big diesel. So thereyou have it. The extra money you save buying Nissan is spent in maintenance. Perhaps I have this wrong...anyone?

WTF are they doing for $1000? My service plan from Ford on 6.7 diesel complete to 160 000 km bumper to bumper was purchased for about $4000

They said other than oil it was all the filters etc... not sure what all that means but the guy did say "in order to maintain Nissan warranty." I don't and wont do my own maintenance on new cars. Just dont have the time.

Sounds like Nissan is taking a page from the Cam Am playbook and the "10 hr service" for 500++ bucks for "warranty purposes". Horse hockey.

I called 2 other Nissan dealers, they said 199$ for oil changes at 8000km. So I dunno why the one said 16km for 1000$ I'll call tomorrow and try again lol

They are super nice trucks , I drove one and was very impressed. They told me I can have one for a few nights and even tow my trailer so I can compare. What to do
