Fawkin' funny to someone reading this thread and seeing people get so offended they don't take the time to read and then accuse someone of saying something else without a quote to back it up. It *is* all written here... it's pretty obvious you got played in this epic online battle. Now settle down for a moment and take yer own meds.

That said, Toro was making a good point in there. Back when I bought *MY* Tundra (yup, Toyota Tundra, jus being extra clear here so you don't think I ride a fuggin' doo or something... alright, last one, now settle down) I would have loved a half ton with a Diesel. I wanted one. I might not have been noticing the rising price or the inevitable bull**** emissions crap coming at the time, but the benefits of the Diesel have all but passed now unless you have no problem spending money. Now, you gotta understand I'm a cheap bastard. Diesel's used to be good for us cheap bastards. Sure ain't the case no more. Makes me sad to see the trucks I wanted finally being sold. It's too late!

Was as looking at half tons yesterday, right now you can buy a new diesel for less than a 2015 f150, salesman said 30 cent per litre premium pretty much has killed f350 sales for now.

Friend said he was noticing a slight dip in used ndiesel prices right now too.

Nissan has positioned this truck in the so called "white space". I think what it will come down to is the price. Nissan will need to be very careful about how they position this truck price wise. Gas and diesel not going to stay this low forever! Like previously mentioned Nissan has always produced a solid truck, especially in the cab. I suspect this will be the case again and time will tell how the rest of the truck fares. Took a long time to get this one together, lets see what the real world says about it. In the end though i think it's true success may be dictated by the price point. At least Nissan is trying to push the others to put out a better product than the crap currently available. That's good for consumers.

I have been a gas owner for all my trucks. I can really only justify a diesel during winter months for hauling sleds. If I didn't sled well I likely would own a half ton, maybe a dodge with the MDS. Not sure.

Obviously I get a little envious when my buddies get 700-800 km per tank with their diesels but the initial cost is really hard to accept.

If the fuel economy of that little Nissan 5L cummins was better than a gas they might do okay for the guys hauling bumper pulls all summer. North America is far behind what is being offered across the pond. They have been putting small displacement diesels in utility vehicles and small pickups for decades. It just took a long time for the market to accept the idea that a diesel can be clean.

I disagree is towing. A diesel is far superior in power and economy whe. Hauling any kind of load. I bought a 3/4 ton gasser on that very idea. That diesel wasn't worth it anymore.... When hauling my 24' travel trailer at 27+L/ 100km I will argue that now and wish I would have gone diesel.

That said as a daily driver I think your right. Diesel has little advantage now. But in my case where it is specifically a truck to haul my sleds and my trailer I will buy a diesel next. And it will be a Nisan Titan as long as they have the capacity to handle 2 sleds in a deck. It not 1ton diesel it is

Yikes, that's not a good looking truck. Kind of looks like they borrowed some of the new Ford F150 style which I'm not a fan of. And the side vents are...interesting. Way too much grill for the small size of the truck.

The powertrain should be robust. I really wonder how the pricing will be on it.

As for running diesels, not everyone buys a truck for economy or even reliability. Go buy a 12V Cummins if that's all you're concerned with. Diesels have their own personality and power. It's nice being in a bigger truck too. You don't need dickwad sunglasses to drive one. And times are changing, people are catching on that it's not cool to roll coal and it's a waste of fuel vs power.

Holy crap. I can't agree with this more. Had the tundra since brand new and those damn air pumps cost us $4800 from Toyota to repair! Biggest turd we've ever owned. That thing was in the shop every few weeks.

Just to recap: there is no Tundra truck in this thread. Never seen an air pump on a Tundra sled.
