Have seen, and have been hearing more about lugs splitting/cracking on some Alpha tracks (165" tracks for sure), similar to some of the Doo 850's when they came out couple years ago. Seems to be about an 1-2" from the inside of the lugs and are cracking/splitting from the tip of the lug to nearly the bottom of the lugs (where the mono rail edge is and track flex occurs) Thought I'd see if there is any people on S&M here with this issue and what they have heard from Cat//Textron and/or your dealers? Sounds like it's showing this issue around the 800km+ mark..

I have 1950 k on my Alpha have a couple of rips in lugs.The paddle's are very soft in the middle section and will tear if you dig down to **** below which i have done.Stay in deep snow and there fine.I did repair my damage with some glue and a small piece of inner tube over top of rip.

Never go over 40mph on a hard trail with a 3”. If the paddles don’t sink in the snow I always go slower. Knock on wood. Thousands of Kms on 3” tracks and no damages yet.

Push on the outer side of the track

It cracks just in the outside of the rear rail wheels right through the lug

Will do every lug, both sides in no time

1900km on Alpha, track is fine, hyfax is fine. I've done a few full speed runs on the trail. Steering post bushings are getting a little sloppy. I've drained the chaincase four times. The oil always looks like death because of the aluminum gear. I think I'll change it to steel.

ECU heatshield cracked and broke off a tab, rattled like crazy, removed ear, bent out the mount and put the screw in to grab the edge.

Plastic on edge of mesh screen broke. No idea how, never hit anything never or nothing.

Sliders have a strip taken out from clips yet again. Debating on trying to get the track fully clipped to prevent this from happening.

yes, there was no wear yet on the top sprocket, I had 500miles on it. The aluminum gear was looking ugly and I was sick of changing the oil every few rides to remove the aluminum contamination.

What he said. And l worry that if there was an engine problem and they saw the alternative oil tank it might be an excuse to deny warranty.

I went with the belt drive but had parts dealer installed.....probably not matter since I have changed out several other parts also, oh well.

Going trade out some aluminum and steel for some carbon fibre parts this summer for early season testing.
My warranty is likely screwed.
