Looking at getting the underside of my trailer spray foamed.

What does a guy need to know about this?

Where is a good place in the Edmonton area to have this done?

And how much?

Thanks!

I have done 3 trailers now and this is what I do, now I have a big enough shop to work in so makes it a little easier. Jack it about 3 ft in the air and put it on stands , remove wheels and thoroughly clean under side, make sure it is at room tempature and is dry, I then have J&G Urethanes come in and spray approx 4" through out, I then carve what I need to to re install the wheels, let's dry for 24 hrs then kick it out. If you don't have a shop J&G does, just clean it before you take it to them, great guys, budget 1000.00 and your golden.

Cost me 680$ to do 16' with 5' v nose in Edmonton...can't remember name of business...did a good job though. Shop around as I found prices to be fairly different.

Do u have to cover it up after its sprayed or can u leave it open to the road spray etc? Wondering if the salt would eat it or sneak behind and start rusting.

Was doing some reading and sounds like you need to go with closed cell foam. Its basically a vapour barrier and insulation all in one.

My buddy just had his featherlight trailer floor done last week by Foamworxs out of Revy/Calgary they did a awesome job and they are hard core sledders. From prep to drive away took about 3 hrs. These guys do primary new homes and commercial constructuion but it might be worth your while to give them a call. They are great guys to deal with. Jamie 403 660 1381

I used J&G Urethanes in Edmonton for a 7' wide - 17' incl 3' v-nose. There's atleast 5" of 2lb closed cell insulation in all places - $500. I also got the inside edge done around the back ramp door and the inside of the man door - $100. They painted the inside portion with a white paint to help seal it so it won't discolour over time. Aside from a mixup on the timing/scheduling of the job - guys did top notch work and I would highly recommend them -
Dave was great to deal with!

I have a set of ramps that I back the trailer onto , there about 16" high. That is usually more then enough for him to get under with a creeper. I block the wheels and use a large block under the tongue jack. My shop is between Edmonton and Spruce Grove. Your more than welcome to use them if your in the area.

Great idea, I'll try to build a set.
Sounds like Wes is gonna come and spray it in my shop.

I have a forklift too, was thinking about lifting on the two main trailer beams and then just sliding a bunch of jack stands under.

Couple more beers I am sure the answer will come to me.

Thanks for the offer

Well never got around to spray foaming the floor of my trailer last year, which turned out to be no big deal. However seeing that this is supposed to be a harsh winter I decided to get it done this year.

Called Wes at foam force, and his price went up alot this year for some reason. He quoted me the same price for "2 inch as he did for 4" last year. But the plus side for him is he would travel to your shop to do it.

Called J&G and the had the best pricing of everyone I called and have some good reviews. So well see how it goes.

2" $808.60
3" 1045.50
4" 1275.50

For a 22' box and 4' V nose.

They also have a big heated bay and ramps, they did not want to travel to my shop to do the job. But no big deal as I do not have ramps and don't want the smell or mess in my shop.

Got mine done at J&G last year - awesome work! I felt they were very generous on the thickness of foam. I also got them to do the side man door and sides around the ramp door from the inside while they were at it.

Just picked up my trailer from J&G today and I must say they did a fantastic job.

Dropped the trailer off the day before and it got to spend the night inside the bay.

As mentioned above I feel they where generous with the foam lol.

How much weight does it add?
(8' x 22') + (0.5 * 4' *8') = 192sqft
192 sqft x 3"/12" = 48 ft3
48 ft3 x 2.8 lbs/ft3 = 134 lbs

So sweet fawk all.

What I did notice is that the wind resistance is way down because all the cross members are fully covered and she is smooth.
