Hello Lund. First time member and first post. Just wanted to give a huge shout out to you, Lund, Xm, Kibbels, etc etc. I am so impressed with the info, pics, quality of work, and knowledge of all the members on this site. You heavily influenced me and changed my mind of what to buy. Proud to say I’m a owner of a used 2018 sidewinder MTX. I know the passion, time, and effort that goes into building, testing, researching, and riding. Thanks to all for posts like this that tell us newbies the ins and outs and what’s possible. Keep it coming.

Thank you, Congratulation on your new ride.
I think your going to be very impressed and satisfied these sleds are not just a joy to ride like other brands but a blast to ride.
Hope to see you around one day.
Oh BTW, welcome to the Side Winder Club.

Out for a spring ride yesterday. Snowed about 40cm fresh, temp around1-3c, 7000’ .Tested the factory weights 8kc-00....with the tip aluminum rivet removed and 3.1g rivet in the tip. Sled wouldn’t pull the weight....7400 was the highest rpm I seen. Snow was soft spring snow. Guessing with the elevation and heavier snow , tip weight will need to be closer to the aluminum weight.

Did you reset the secondary spring tension to 3-3?

The highlighted in red is too heavy Turblue. The 8kc00 is not the profile weight i recommend or use.
You need to replace them with 8kr00, it is a very different profile and that is where the differences are. That is why your sled is going flat, stalling at 7400rpm.
The 8kr00 need to be loaded with the steel rivet 4.5g, ALL three holes.
Your secondary spring needs to be set at 3-3, 60deg.

You mean 8lr-00? I have a set coming loaded up with the big rivets. These stock 8kc-00. Thought I would try the recommendation from the charts. I did not have the secondary at 3-3

Sorry yes i mean the 8LR00.
Interesting it would not pull the recommended setting. D,A,A.
Your set up has been G,A,A. Specification for 8,000ft and up?
Makes me wonder why that is, maybe a weak secondary spring or not loaded properly?

My 2018 sidewinder will pull the stock weights with the 3.1 steel Rivet in the tip. Only mod is a Cr resonater and dalton black orange spring and 33/35deg helix. 3/3 wrap

So it should of pulled my combination no problem D,A,A and the secondary was at 1 sheav and 3 on the helix.(basically chart recommendations for less than 8000’)

Looking around 2 out of the 3 rollers on the secondary have flat spots. And one of the rollers on the primary is stuck, can get it to roll if I really work at it. I know guys have been having issues with the secondary rollers but I’ve been looking at them and haven’t noticed until now. Who sells the updated ones.

My dealer replaced mine with updated ones, I believe they are the Cat rollers but not sure, no charge to me, its a known thing by them but I am sure they will only replace what they have to just like the reverse actuators.

I asked the dealer when I bought the sled if the rollers were updated. They said yup. Lol. Should of known. Guessing if I order rollers they should be the updated ones now.

Mine went flat also, the dealer gave me another set free to keep me going while they ordered the updated version. The new updated ones should be here this week.
When they looked up the part number they told me that the number has been changed up, meaning its an updated part.
I don't think any 17 model came with the updated rollers.

Now done for the season, yesterday was my last ride.

My sled is still under "warranty". So far they are telling me to pound sand on rollers getting flat spots. I was told there is no updated rollers and that they dont warranty wearable items. Curious if they will fix my oil reservoir leak but guessing same response.

Also notice the primary spring is really rubbing when it’s under compression...that typical? I don’t ever remember seeing this on my apex or nytro. Can’t imagine the rpm is going to be correct with the spring rubbing. 650 Miles on the sled.

That's a Primary roller, recenter your bushing, polish the shaft and your good to go.
Seen that often on big hp motors. How many miles?
