Sorry to derail this thread, but clutching a 4S turbo is a lot different then a 2S. Olaf A’s book was printed in the 80’s, and honestly, it was geared toward the flatland racer. I’ve personally tried various clutch kits over the years, and one size does not fit all, and different clutch designs perform differently. So agree/disagree, but here’s more then one way to skin a cat

That's incorrect information. There's even a picture of Lund hillclimbing in Olav's book.

Thank's for the prop Catrider but let's not derail and wreck Kibbels thread over disagreement's and BS. I'm ok with other's not agreeing. Take it this way, this is internet and it's in the hill's that counts.
Some that commented on here spend more time on their key board BSing it makes me wonder if they even have a sled or a life other then S&M.

Ya hopefully my post will get back on track but the reoccurring continues. There is merit in 2S & 4S Clutching simulatorties however clutching this new Yamaha clutches with the wide torque band has its challenges. The SW definitely can be geared as you mentioned Lund... it’s a fact!! I would do it but gawd knows I hate taking that thing apart!!! I do take advice however real world advice is worth gold when it’s about helping and sharing info. I’ve had the Cutler Clutch book since early 90’s ... does that make me a 4S tuner nope!!! I have nothing to prove... and when the K1 says “Prove it” I just ignore it. I’m not the smartest clutcher but I do okay and plan on doing better. I do respect & appreciate Lund’s & Kanedogs feed back as knowledge is be learned. You guys may disagree with each other but I value you’re info. Over the years of Apex’s and Nytros Climbmax has been my crutch. I’m really trying not to bug him as that fella is busier than 1 legged man in an ass kicking competition...!!!

I post my facts and first hand information from others.

Anyways had a good chuckle on Boulder... we parked with some fellas with new Ski-Doo 850’s.... they were like what the hell are those things they sound like vicious Sherman Tanks.... lol .. Catman10, XMRider163 & I had a good laugh!!

Well I guess this is why some of us just don’t come on here that often anymore! Im not even going to comment on Benny and why his nose is all up in all of these Yamaha threads ?‍??

I have spoken with Lund numerous times on clutching the Sidewinder, he has some great theory’s and has done extensive real world testing, I couldn’t agree more with gearing the MTX up and loading the engine!! Changing weight profiles will change much more then you would ever imagine Stacy. I personally like the Dalton profiles and loaded heavy in the tips of the weight for good reason. Gear it up and throw weight at it, hold on boys your in for a good season!! Cheers

Sled looks amazing! Those CR boards are awesome and that bumper design is the best I’ve seen! Colours look like they match almost perfect!

I would turf the air shock for a coil shock that will be much more predictable and will keep the skis down with the CR block nothing will ever compare to the baker skid/m10 but will at least hold you over until that new sled comes out next year!

Thanks Erik... I have few more changes to make as well. I’m so considering the RE Rear Coupler but I’m trying to be as low budget as possible... lol.. not possible!!!

I don't know about that, i got about $7000 extra invested into my 18 Cat just to be able to keep up to the Sidewinders. Boondocker Sidekicks work great but don't come cheap.
And it still won't pull like the Sidewinder 4s will.

To be honest this has been the best budget Yamaha I’ve ever owned!! $17k for sled and some few additions so I’m very happy with price & performance. Truth is there has not been any other sled factory built with the power & ability of the Sidewinder IMO.

The couplers work surprisingly well only issues is Lack of forgiveness I’m sure things will bend if you come down hard on full couple I run mine at partial couple in the deep. A $200 coupler or a $2000 rear arm and shock from baker or redline. I threw those CR boards on too other than the flash probably best thing you can do to these yammies your sled looks good.

Thanks Darin.... I’m going to try the Coupler as yup trying to stay low cost!! You’re going to love the boards mister big difference over stock.. here I thought they would make me better rider haha... actually they kind of do or I should say they allow the rider to handle the animal better!!!

Try building a 2 stroke turbo to keep up to a stock sidewinder. Sidewinder will cost way less to build and way less to maintain.

Exactly, that was my point earlier on, i ride with Lund 90% of the time when i get out. Unless his wife goes, i can't keep up to him. So i spend on a turbo set up and still a challenge to keep up to a stock Sidewinder. They are an amazing sled, just a little heavy for me and my skill level. I'm always amazed at some 4 stroke riders and what they can do with their sled's considering the extra lbs, no way in hell i could do it.
I think i have more money invested in my 18 Cat now then Lund has in his Yamaha.

Is there really a need for forged internals? I thought I read somewhere the factory engine was capable of 350hp???
