Why I started riding a Yamaha again.

There was a poster in the shop when I was young of all the special sled from year to year. Id say 2005 back to the early days. So many cool sleds. Ever see an Inviter? Ape hanger bars and a chopper style seat lol.

Well from all my posts you can see that it is a pretty awesome sled. I came off a skidoo t3 174 and felt right at home instantly....now if your planning to ride tight tree vertical walls with no base for snow, it’s not a sled for that. Everything else is a blast ... Hp wise I think you can do 250ish on pump gas, but someone that has the power up would be better to answer that.

As for must do’s ...depends what your planning on riding...straight up chute climber? Or normal type riding? Maybe a cold air intake if your shredding pow every ride, rear bumper, magnetic tether, and that’s about it. Drive the piss out of it...it can handle it. Lol.

Let me start by saying thank you everyone, but I am only going to quote this one post.
I am your typical rider I suppose.
Somewhat skilled and ridden for a lot of years, but no super hero type of rider, or even close to it. I like to climb pretty big hills, and can high mark decently, but i don't try those chutes that look more like a death wish than just a fun time.
I have almost exclusively been riding a snowbike for two seasons now, and really enjoy them, but they have limitations that I do miss only available on a powerful sled. My last Yamaha was a Mountain Max 700, what a fun sled, been riding Doo and Cat since, with one season on a Poo I bought used, and promptly blew the engine in after 3 days of riding. Rebuilding didn't happen till the season was basically over, so I sold it and barely rode the thing, but didn't mind it.
I play around in bowls, do a little bit of tree riding, just a regular redneck guy, not a bad rider or great. Carefree riding appeals to me more and more with each year. Like another poster mentioned, i to ride mostly with my wife. I do a few guy trips a year also, but 75% of the time my best friend/wife is who i primarily go with. Of any sled I've owned without a doubt my favorite was the old Cat M1000, the smooth torque of that engine was just fun, and felt different from most two strokes, and it climbed liked a home sick angel for a stock 2 stroker.

I am a checking out Yamaha again. Haven’t owned Yamaha sled since 1980 Yamaha SRX 440. Tiny little sled, with big power. Won many lake races ,and poker rally’s with SRX. Crashed on lake at 100mph, hit blind drift. The sled held up, I was sore next day. These big four strokes maybe the answer. Reliable, not as tiring, ride all day, fuel efficient, fast, and dealerships everywhere. Like a crossover Yamaha Sidewinder with 144x 1.75”?

There was also an Ovation. We called it the Ovulation. I think it was equally as sexy as the inviter. Both ugly but a piece of history nonetheless!

I had a 95 Vmax 4. Was a great sled in the day, went through $1500 in belts in one winter. It was fast though. Had a 91 phaser also with 1 5/8” paddles, such a great sled.

Every small town had a Yamaha dealer back in the day.... bought a brand new Yamaha et 300 in 1980 she would do 60miles per hour on the packed road and be stuck in a foot of snow.... lol 1995 bought vmax 600. Think 1997 Yamaha had 13 inches of suspension I think the vmax 750 was 500$$ more and did 120mph stock...career and kids happened then got into the nytros prob had 8 of them Big Power Impulse MCx Boost-it Alpine 174 3 inch tracks then got a nypex... 26 psi boost 4 cylinder crazy climber sled so much power and fun 2011 sold the 4 stroker and bought the new etech... what a disappointment but didn’t need 3 good buddies to roll over to get unstuck and was nice on a socked in day of tree riding compared to the yammies....road BRP til 2020 then decided I wanted to try the great Arctic Cat Alpha but ended up buying another 4 stroke Yammie as a spare cuz the cat does not like the cold weather and sits at the dealers getting warranty and keeping warm at 600kms... Enough said ...Yamaha is reliable and the power is second to none turboed of course picked up a 15 viper turboed and lovin it yammies have treated me very well cheers
