The Province made millions of dollars off of the logging operations back there and there's no funds left too keep the road/ trail open it seems...

Sad too think,,, since its all right there when it comes too Winter Activities,,, Sport and hobby which also keeps the community going...

I bet the Community of Mcbride generates millions in tax revenue off of Snowmobiling each year ...

Perhaps the powers that be over looked this,,, even if the Province invest some coin they will definitely see a return on those funds easy in the following years...

A win win for the Town and Province...

Just saying is all

There are already folks on here bitching about the price of the trail passes and the quality of grooming. Can you imagine the f!@#$%g whining if the price of the trail pass increased to cover the cost of the snow making?

Unfortuneatly this is not a small problem with an easy fix. This is going to take some work with the gornement to convince them that the Trail is more valuable to "all" in operational condition.
Snowmaking is cheaper than a million dollar bridge and would be better than no revenue without access.
$10k in expense isn't hard to make up.

I don't know how these snow bridges would hold up. The river runs continously all winter, how do you keep it from washing away the snow bridge?

The water required for those snow cannons is highly filtered high quality, and they plug up easily if you don't have that. They used them a few years ago in Alberta Beach for making a snow drag track and the water bill from the town was almost as much as the rental of the cannon.
Yeah I'm aware, I'd just about guarantee the water in that creek is far cleaner than the water I've pulled out of muskeg holes, lakes and rivers in Northern Albert to make snow bridges and pipeline crossings.

There enough water supply there you wouldn't need to haul it in, as far as pricing goes, if riders don't want to pay the extra $20 tell them there are plenty of other areas to ride.

Could post the snow bridge bill at the shack... 🤔

Once the water makes a path through the snow they continue to flow. Put your first couple lifts in and the water will cut a path through. We have aslo used rig mats to help with making a channell under the main part of the bridge. Soaking the snow with water as you push your lifts on is also very important and helps maintain the structure at the bottom.

We have had to put culverts in the od time to help maintain to proper flow, then fill the snow in over top of that. Just about always with a snow cat, but some times there is excavator help.

If the bridge is a full "no go" I'm guessing new access (or old access) points will start being utilized. This area is just too big and well known to not have something figured out by individual groups that will pull in other groups to develop a new way in. It's amazing what sledders can get done when they decide to pull together as a group. I'm sure some of us remember shoveling a trail up there to get the horses out.

Talking about efforts...

Key Stone shovel across,,, some days are easy,,, if it snows and the wind is blowing its all hands on deck... lol

Lets not forget that alot of roads and rail-way lines were built by hand and horses before the days of machine's...

I can pick out 20 + areas threw out bc that require human power and efforts too get waaaaay back there...

Its too bad foresty stumped this trail up too Renn,,, it would of been the easiest way with a few zig-zags or a point and shoot line for sleds on boost


If your down at the far end ( from up top ) a person can see the old old logging road down below...

Im not sure how steep it is off the end,,, the old cut-block is right there,,, mind you is was 2012 back then,,, the friggin trees are probably 40 + ft tall,,, theres a hiking trail on the other side,,, probably no motorized travel (Hells roaring fall's trail.)

The other likely climb is the other valley shoot to the west of that valley...

It would lead too the big rock ,,, 10 too 1 there's a steep ledge in the way... just below the Plateau of the ( big rock)...

It's definitely a climb for the hiking folks

Oh,,, and the shoot,,, I'm not going there,,, its a bastard after its been hit by a few sled,,, like my old friend said,,, dropping off of it is a last resort,,, climbing it after its been hit is almost impossible even with the best of riders,,, We've only seen it as a ice shoot...

Its not an option with low snow accumulation and winds that don't carry it over...

When they logged up there it opened the doorway too the Renn,,, easier access and groom-ible...

Forestry knew this all along,,, they must of been on board with this since they allowed it too become the snowmobile trail in...

It's one nice sledding area

Most definitely some funds short and long term but very do-able...

An example is the RMH shooting range...

Government,,, Club and Volunteers and out-side support...

The numbers might not be there right off the batt but hopefully over time things work out...

Folks will soon find out who's in and who's not

Side Note

It wasn't long ago when Chatter Creek and Grizzly lodge seeked permission too build what needed building waaaaay back when...

More challenging today but very do-able...

Not on Facebook but I do not support CML as they forgot who there regular customers were when the oilfield was paying big bucks for rooms, good luck to get our business back
They did what was best for them at the time. Times were uncertain with all the lockdown BS, and they did what needed to be done to get by. Can't say I blame them for taking advantage of a situation to prosper.

We have stayed at CML for a week every Christmas for the last 5 years now, even through all that BS. Justina & Kevin have always been fantastic to us. I know they much prefer the sledder crowd over pipeliners, and that was a hard choice for them to make.

We heard rumors theres a Sacred first nations burial grounds up there,,, i guess the government will have too fix the bridges...

Id get hold of the Chief and get it done...

There's a burial ground alright. If you walk out of the renshaw cabin, and take about 10 paces straight ahead, there's plenty buried.

I see a couple ways a guy could get in but I guess the question is who’s gonna drive all the way out from Alberta and try to bash their way in. Once a trail gets popular it’ll be so whooped out nobody will wanna use it anyway
