Kinda funny, one of my competitors down here recently picked up a sweet looking picker truck, high miles, but looked real decent. 2006 Ford F550, no dents, all tooled up and all...

$7000 at the auction...really rubbed it in my face about how much we were spending on trucks compared to him...Truck lasted about a week, was pulled over on the side of the road broke down, I slowed, waved, and smiled, and kept on going...Talked to him later (after he gave me crap for not helping :) ) head gasket gone...So much for the auction buy...I cant afford the downtime.

All depends on the price, type of vehicle, who is selling, and if you can find out why. There is good deals on decent stuff, and junk that's worthless. Gotta save a decent amount and expect some repairs though. If you buy at the auction and expect to put something right to work your a fool.

You can get burned just as bad, if not worse buying privately.

What does that have to do about buying privately or an auction?

Anyone who doesn't HATE vehicle dealers is slow, or works at one.

Must be slow then...I have 2 good dealerships...just sayin

Sometimes its the customer LOL (But Im sure thats not the case)

When I ask the salesman if the price offered includes GST and fees and I get the answer "I don't know, does it really matter?" I don't think it's the customer. Or when I ask if the difference offered includes paying out my previous loan and they say "Yes" but really mean "The difference is that number PLUS what you owe on the loan". Trying to get me to sign without knowing the REAL price. I don't know about you, but I don't like dealers hiding ch!t and playing games. And when they want YOU to commit to a price but say they need more time to look at the trade before THEY have to commit to a deal, something is fawked. Both parties or no parties commit. Or when dealers offer just payments as a price no hard number. WTF is that? Maybe I should counteroffer with payments and say it's a 1 year term and tell them AFTER.

Dealerships are fine when your about to sign the paperwork and 5 minutes after. After that it's fawk off who are you. Anyone who says they aren't the same is full of it, i've been to about 7 dealers in edmonton now ALL the EXACT same BS. Both trucks i've bought from dealers they somehow "Forget" to do something after sale. But NEVER forget to call prior to make sure the deal is good. Funny!

I will say parts is good at a lot of places, but sales is a frigging joke. I think to be a car salesman you need a degree in lieing and BS.
