Days inn inn has been our spot in the past, been getting it for 99 dollars.... now 160$.. Same room, probally the same box spring.. Now a five day trip is a grand just for rooms.. That don't seam right

like walking to Zella's and parking is safe, but I do have a decent holiday trailer that could also be used in the winter rather than sitting in the quanset.. Got a few decent offers for parking it from this thread, not sure yet about the winterizing thing every other weekend

It is funny, every year some guy with all the pimped toys whines about gas or hotel costs.
Tourism is way up in BC this summer and from what I hear winter bookings are way ahead of normal.

Or park your fifth wheel at smokey bear, 600$ a month all in.
Power, water, sewer, wifi, hot tub and a work shop. Plus a bunch of kick azz sledder guys stay there already, meet some rippers& up ur game a bit.
The owner Clayton is good chit.
Clayton & Cathy are WAY cool. Stay there every August long while playing in the Glacier Challenge (Ball tourney) and can't say enough good about them or their place. Met a lot of cool people there too

I don't see it as much greed as pure capitalism. Hotel owners in Revy can rent a room to a group of sledders that is going to fill your parking lot with oversized trucks and trailers creating a parking issue for your staff to manage for $139(Sledder's rate for this year) per night or 4 plankers in a Volkswagen Jetta that booked 3 months in advance at $212 (Expedia rack rate for one of the suites) per night on Expedia which also means they paid in advance and is non refundable so it helps your cash flow. Regardless of who you choose your hotel will be full every Friday and Saturday night from December 15- March 15; which would you choose?

As I understand the Days has new owners this year therefore all of the tenure developed with previous owners is out the window. It's an unfortunate situation for the guys that have been going there for so long but the only remedy will be when every hotel in town isn't full every weekend of the winter and owners decide to lower their rates to attract business. With two new hotels breaking ground in the the next 6 months that may be the case for next winter but I doubt you'll get much in the way of concessions this winter.

I do understand that sledder's almost always do more to support the local economy than skiers as they often purchase fuel, parts, etc locally but a hotel owner doesn't see that benefit.

Oh I totally understand the ratio between the two like you said

But that's just plain greed, plankers buy nothing in town realistically, we'll mabe a bag of Lefty's from a guy in town

I love revy as a place, but the greed the hole city has now is over the top..

I seen a post in the Revy sell on Facebook, tying to get people to update there wood stoves to pellets, or electronic inserts

Are they fawning retarded, pellets are big coin and a pain, and the power is bad enough, but ya hit a 2nd ratio in use and it's through the roof for money

There is no natural gas there, and propane is just as bad, and heating oil is also frowned upon

Toy hauler hotel might be the options.

Pack the rig to get to play ground, unload too set up hotel.

Go to rec center to shower and hot tub, then to food establishment for supper.

Easy and frugal to do once a person gets set up,,, and the sleds stay on the ground ready to ride for 7 too 10 day outtings,,, normally 45 to 60 days since it cuts down on the drive between provinces.

Think frugal too be frugal as it allows funds for lots of gas.

Pal Lem glad at sharing ideas.

My pick-up truck cab living idea doesn't work for everyone, but those of us that like to area hop sure can get around easy and fast as it allows us to hit Mackenzie too Shuswaps on 1 month sled trips.

PS: now I do the local by quad and pick up truck that saves even more funds,,, can't wait to spin the quad tracks this winter.

One of the things that ticked us off about the Days was they asked what days we would be coming in when we asked for prices as the same room goes up $20 from Thursday night to Friday night. That to me is just straight gouging.

Any busy town before things slowed down in the patch had been doing that.
Drayton,Whitecourt,Rocky and so on.
Not so much now.
Las Vegas is the same.
Crooks. IMO

New owners at the Days, could be reason for price change. Memberships may not be available there this season.

How do you know what skiers buy? Most ski shops rent out their rental fleet every weekend, sell gloves, toques, poles, socks, skis boots... my buddy runs a ski shop and skiers spend money. Not all of them pack lunches and sleep in their cars.
They also buy real estate which is what builds the resorts.

Supply demand people, hotels owe you nothing and you owe them nothing, I fully expect them to charge more on the weekends like any resort town.
I agree skiers spend money, I've done ski trips with friends and we spend no different and sometimes more than sledders. Not all skiers are 19 year old college kids that stuff 5 people in every room...
I fully expect to be riding in Revy this year, I save money by going to the cheaper places and reducing the number of nights there (2 days riding and 1 night)

I ride a lot 3 weekends a month or more. like most people my first trip was to revelstoke I have found its very expensive compared to most other destinations My dollar seems to go further elsewhere and less riders to fight for powder with and my wife only complains when I go to revelstoke. The more I save per trip the more trips I can have
