Need to get away for a week long party. I have been to Mexico but not Hawaii.
What do you all reccomend? I don't want to be stuck at one resort all week.
I like drinking beer all day and touring around.

Hawaii is great...that's where I'd go. Been to both, mexico is awesome in some places, but hawaii is unreal if you like to explore. Either way you'll have a good time.

I am in Maui right now as I write this.Great place to tour around as I have put on just over 600 miles on my rental car.weather has been off and on as we lost a beautifull hot sunny day to a Tsunami alert on saturday[first since 1994]Mexico is definatly cheaper but Hawaii is just nicer all the way around. If your on a budget go mexico if you can afford it hawaii is hard too beat.Driving in maui is real easy but very busy if you go to the main island of Ohau

we just got back from the big island.once you go to hawaii mexico is kind of second rate,no one harasses you in hawaii, you can go anywhere without fear of anything, good water, etc.also been to maui, nice to but alot smaller, you almost have to go to the big island twice to see everythig.the volcano national park is a must see,you need 2 days min there.pm me if you want a good ideas where to go...

Go too Waikiki for your first trip to Hawaii, plenty to do on that island and the only one with any kind of nightlife. The rest bored me to tears.

I just got back from mexico! It was amazing, stayed at a resort called Privilege Aluxes Isla Mujeres its an island just off of cancun and we did a lot of touring. You can rent a golf cart and tour the island. Hawaii is beautiful as well but much more expensive as there isnt all inclusive deals but u will enjoy either! We r looking at going back to mexico in may, or hawaii is our second option!

My father lives north of Puerto Vallarta and I go there for 3weeks,.. getting kind of the same routine. Walk down to the bar(only a couple blocks away beside the beach), sit there with all the same people,.. kind of like cheers,.. you walk in and everyone shouts HOLA! Eat you face off, drink so much that you can't eat anymore,.. then everyone walks home singing and puking,..

Might have to try Hawaii next time :)

Hey thanks for all the tips everybody! I'm thinking maybe hawaii right now.
I don't like drinking the cheap booze that's included in the mexican all inclusive deals so I buy my own beer anyway.
I was hoping to find a place that's not all couples and more fun outgoing people although not interested in the college party spots i'm getting a little too old for that.
Anything like that on the island?

Go to Playa Del Carmen, I can give you some names and they will bring you to parties. I stay at litlle hotel of the strip quite at night and 3 blocks from party heaven. Cheap if you drink beer. I would not think twice...

2 cents...

Love both, been to all islands, mauii is the best , Luhina is fun, good night life and lots to do... you can drive around for days and see different stuff.. got married on mccenna beach... thats a different thread...

I have only been to the mayan riv and cancun in mexico, had a wicked time both times, but I got tired of mehico in a week.. wanted to go home and was happy to get there... i spent 5 weeks on mauii and still didn;t want to come back...

Both are fun, but I love the Islands.. we went just this year to Oahu for 2 and ahalf weeks... it was awesome.. everytime I go there I see something different to do or see... we brought our kids 2 and 4 years old.. they had an amazing time and we weren't worried about them even a little... that would be different in mexico,..

U will have fun on either trip let us know which you do

Thanks everyone!
Luhina you say has a good nightlife? I might have to look into this. I agree..got sick of the same resort in neuvo vallarta, plus it was a 5star more of a couples resort. I really don't want the hard booze dispensers in my room either because I can't control myself and it ends up being a runaway drunk everyday.

I just got back today from 10 days in Maui and am feeling a little crispy[too much sun at Makenna beach]Only negative is the flying home thru the nite thing. As everyone has said NO ONE hassles you or tries to sell you anything.I stayed in Kehei as the weather there is almost always nice.I have stayed in West maui before,Lahina, Kaanapalli but I don't like the drive there as the road is only 2 lanes and very busy.It also takes a good hour if its remotly busy to get into Kahali from Lahina. The highway to Kihei is 4 lanes and brandnew and only takes 20 mins to get into town even when its busy.I find Kihei and the surrounding area central to everything as the biggest city Kahalui has the Costco, walmart, movie theatres, etc. There are lots of good all day road trips to take .I did the road to Hana and drove right around the bottom of the island for a total of 160 SLOW miles took 9 hours but I made lots of stops.Another great trip is up to the Haleakela Crater and more touring around at 10,000 ft,that one took me about 6 hours with a hike into the craters. My last tour was clockwise around west maui which was 90 miles all paved with some very narrow one lane roads[I love that stuff] and tons of big surf and fabulous views it took about 6-7 hours. Also snuck in a quick drive up the Iao valley on Waikalu on the way home.Snorkeling is awsome as well as on my last day I saw 12 sea turtles and rode a few [I know I am bad].If your serious about Maui PM me as I made some good rental contacts and rent your car thru Priceline or hotwire.Mahaloa

Hawaii is for touring, older people, orientals, couples and suntanning. Its beautiful but very expensive and no partying on the beach. There isnt alot to do there cause it only takes a day to go around the islands. And really...how exciting is it to go look at a bunch of pineapples.

Mexico is for drunken run aways, getting laid, single folks and drinking at the beach bars and night life. Cheap and hot! Can drive to other towns and the food is yummy! Mazatlan is DISGUSTING. PV is ok.Cabo is awesome. Cancun/Playa are like downtown LA

All inclusive resorts are a waste of money unless you are planning on being there 24/7. We did it one time for a wedding, but wouldnt do it again.

I loved them both but for different reasons. :p
Been to Hawaii - 7 times. Numerous places. The North shore on Oahu is fun.
Mexico - 8 times. Lived in Cabo San Lucas for 2 years. Hated the Mayan side. WAY to touristy, and not enough Mexican. Prefer the food on the Baja side.

Bahamas are awesome!!

Yep depends what you want. Only been to mexico for a week but it was great. All the great booze and food you want, would reccomend a 5 star resort for sure, it is so worth it. Cancun is definately geared towards the younger crowd wanting to party but it's great. I went down during spring break, the nightlife and partying was insane, even for older people. There is still lots to do and see. As far as not being safe or getting bothered, I get bothered more on the streets here then in mexico. Never had any other problems or concerns, mexico doesn't want any problems with tourists because they would loose to much money.
