I think they (Irving Oil) do bring in foreign oil as they cannot get anything else. Kind of begs the question of where the oil from the offshore rigs are going?
Maybe I stand corrected but I thought Irving also had a sizeable hand in bringing in foreign oil.

All of the eastern refineries rely on foreign crude from Saudi and Venezuela. Energy east, Just like the transmountain pipeline would still export our crude oil overseas.

I dont know much about the marketing side of the oil and gas business, but I would think contracts to sell and purchase would still have to be honored, even tho there is oil in a pipe right beside a refinery.

I would think it would take awhile for things to change.

Soon to be government funded fire pits.

Great business opportunity! Trans Mountain Fire Pit Rings* made in Canada from official pipeline project surplus

* fire pit ring design pending approval by local/municipal/territorial/provincial/interprovincial/federal/indigenious/religious and many other regulatory agencies

The group hopes to receive regulatory approval from the Alberta and Canadian governments within two years, he said in an interview on Friday. Most of the refined products will be exported.

Truedope and Snotley will F!@# that up. Can't see it happening.

If Sinopec plans to ship refined products from Canada to China, it would likely move them by rail to the Pacific Coast, since pipeline space is limited, said GMP FirstEnergy analyst Michael Dunn. It may make more sense for China to import Canadian crude and refine it domestically, he said.

Horgan would block the rail system so as to appease the wishes of the leaf lickers in the lower mainland. Sorry Fellow BC S&M'ers I don't mean to paint you with with the green paint brush but you do realize that the special interest groups in your Province make a lot of Noise and Horgan is more that willing to kiss their AZZes.

Never gonna happen. Firstly, bitumen is almost impossible to ship once the lighter ends are stripped out. Secondly, the environmental regulations required to approve a refinery are way more stringent than a pipeline and the tree huggers would tie it up in court for years, just like they’ve done with the pipelines. The reason the world markets want our heavy crude oil is to utilize the heavy ends, not the lighter ones.

Huh??? Think positive dude.

North redwater is a high conversion refinery that makes diesel from bitumen. We need more of these type of refineries in Alberta. I dont see any opposition and protests here in Alberta on new expansions/projects. Horgan even said build more refineries/upgraders.
