I have access to Alberta oil, if I follow and abide by Alberta laws and regulations.

You have access to BC ports if you abide by BC laws and regulations.

UMmmmmmm no not really.
Presently BC is just blocking and moves the target when requirement are met so no BC is not letting the coast belong to Canadians.
Alberta is trying our damdest to get a product to market that is shared with all Canadians from the point of mining to royalties.
That is why the two sides are so divided.
One group wants to share and the other group is a bunch of blocking aholes.

Not an apples to apples comparison at all.

Yes BC should get the 4.5B pipeline tab as they forced the issue. KM wanted to build the line, maintain and would have been responsible for the line.
Canada would have had KM assets within our borders and the ability to pressure KM into almost anything once into service.
Any one with a stupid notion of anything else is just that....stupid.
Just go to Ft Mac and see the billions that Syncrude Suncor CNRL Shell are pressured into spending on cleanest technology and reclamation post mining.
The buffalo up there roam on reclaimed land and the herd is managed by Syncrude.
When in Canadian history has an oil company not paid for a cleanup if required ffs???
Every year billions are spent by the BIG OIL BOYS in Ft Mac to produce as clean as technology allows and they are the ones spending the bIllinois to develop the technology. Even more long term jods. They do this because there assets are here , regulations and public image......and most of all they have developed assets here that are allowed to be at least a bit profitable in the end.

BC has blocked asset development. ....stupid stupid and just plain stupid. Good luck developing your economy with your forward thinking. Gonna cleanup the logging and mining industry next??? Raw sewage dumping???
Coal exporting???

They are far far dirtier than oil has ever been dumping thousands of liters of contaminants into the environment every day year after year with zero consequences.

This whole problem was generated by the BC govt and they should be burdened with the full cost in the end.
Unfortunately some good BC folks are represented by these idiots in power kissing green azzes to do no more than keep their personal jobs regardless of national damage.
But in the end BC govt is the problem for delays and the 4.5B CANADIAN TAXPAYER tab which will only rise.
That is the only issue Mr. H Numbnuts should be in court for. If you cross the line in a car accident you are at fault.......BC crossed the line by blocking and caused this wreck!!!!
Just to many pussies and no men to stand up and call a spade a spade.

I agree with Snochuk.

Also who owns the ocean along BC’s coast isn’t all that cut and dry. The federal govt also controls what happens from everything from the low tide mark out to 12 nautical miles. Provincial only covers the beach to the low tide mark roughly. There is more to it also....

Thanks imdoo'n that was another good article by Rex Murphy. Couple quotes taken below:

"..the Al Gores, David Suzukis, Elizabeth Mays, Neil Youngs, Leonardo DiCaprios, Jane Fondas, Bill Nyes and McKibbens, Naomi Kleins, Andrew Weavers, John Horgans and (now) Jagmeet Singhs, Greenpeace, Sierra, Tides and Rockefeller Foundation, every self-appointed and furiously righteous Alberta-is-killing-the-planet doomsday evangelist would be loosed in war against it and the pipeline. Was Kinder Morgan going to stay for that? It wasn’t going to walk away from the project. It was going to flee for its life.."

"..And so the government, under pressure, in political desperation, stitched together a princely Hudson’s Bay blanket of four and a half billion of our finest Canadian dollars to avoid the full storm that would have erupted on the 31st if Kinder Morgan were to say to Canada and the world what surely it would have said: that it had had enough! That Canada was the worst place in the world for oil and gas projects. That permits granted there were really useless. That the Canadian government — its prime minister had actually said so — would shut down the entire oil and gas industry tomorrow if it could. And that it only supported it to the degree, and reluctantly, that it absolutely had to. And finally, and without question, that the Canadian government was the most feeble and ambiguous partner any energy project could ever dread to see"
