So while doing more research I found out I can run my ac on a 2000 watt gen set. It is only 9000 btu. Remember this is in a truck camper not a trailer. So I am back to thinking about the inverter style. Also looking heavily at the champion model also. The less I have to spend the better. Thinking if I am running the gen set id prefer to be quiet also. I don't want to stick it in the bush and have someone help themselves. Under the truck would be nice

Sorry I was thinking a 13,000 BTU AC like I have in my trailer. You're welcome to try mine to see if it works for you.

I will never buy anything gas powered from Canadian tire again. One you put oil and gas in it, it's your problem with the manufacturer, at least that's what they told me with my lawnmower the next day after I bought it. You can never go wrong buying at Costco imo, and I would gladly pay the few extra bucks to do so as well.
You have to watch the Canadian tire flyer. Download their app and it will alert you when they come on sale. Costco has decent prices on them as well

I really like the price on the champion but there are so many guys having issues with leaking fuel out of the box. Id love to get the yamaha but with the price of the champion lol.

Reliability wise...... I've owned my champion genny 2800/4000W for about 15 years and it has been worked hard. Starts with a couple of pulls in any season and is pretty quiet, for being a Honda knock off.
I just bought a 20 ton champion log splitter, got about 5 cords through it and love it.
I would recommend champion, but they are not as quiet as a yammy or honda.

I've never had a fuel leak issue. I figure I can buy two for less than the price of a Honda.

Any of the gen sets that had fuel leaks were out of the box. If they don't leak when fuel is put in then they probably won't leak ever. Sounds like maybe a stuck float.

I run 2 of the Yammies. Bought them outta the US, so I got the parallel versions and a cable. I started out with a year on a Honda 3000. Great gennie, but WAAAAAAAAAY too heavy. Went to a 3300 Boliy for about 4 years. Was pretty decent, but definitely louder. I now have a couple seasons on the Yammies, and this will be my set up from here on out. Can NOT beat the weight of a 2000W. Super quiet. They're "heavenly". Lol

The Yamaha is great. First trip out with mine I had to go to the truck box and check on it a couple times because it was so quiet I thought someone turned it off on me!

mine runs so quiet that at night when we go in I make sure their is only about a 1/4 tank of fuel and leave it running when we go to sleep, you cant hear it, you have power, it runs out of fuel during the night and turns it self off, and bonus you have a well charged battery in the morning.

These are awesome little gensets. They are inverters and I can hook them in parallel to run the AC. I can just run one for everything else. Around 40 lbs each and super quiet. $499 on sale

They are a nice unit mine runs my whole trailer ac on low and doesn't struggle with the microwave I would recommend this one to anybody

Been off grid with Honda ECU 1000 watt for 14 years, whoops, 15.

Never touched a thing less gas, oil and cleaned the air filter 6 years ago. 100 days running per year would work out to 15.000 hours, the first 2 years seen 400 days running.

1.7 L of gas for 7 hours at full load and 9 ish on ECU. I could now replace it 3 to 4 x's over since it has saved me $1000's of bucks living off grid.

To small for AC, but to runs my lap-top, small in cab heater, air-fan, charge battery, boil water for tea & coffee it works awesome took it with me on the Cross North American trip, Ha. Can't believe the dammed thing keeps running as it worked 12 hour shifts for 355 days.
It to can be synked with other genny if needed.

I don't see the difference between those and the current model. It has fancier cables and added $200 to the price tags of each. Plus has a "t" at the end of the model.

Previously, the Canadian versions didn't even have the option (no plug ports) to run them in parallel. I'd say this is a significant upgrade.

I have the Honda 2000i it is quiet and runs good but it should be rated as a 1600i because that is all the power it produces

I have a Honda 3000is and it barely runs my ac it will trip sometimes on Eco mode. If ramped it won't trip.

Have you ever had same problem with the two yammies? I was thinking of switching. The weight too is a killer.
