Global is reporting a sledder was injured in an avalanche on a popular trail in the Golden area yesterday? Any idea where this was and the circumstances? Thanks guys!

Castanet said near the Hospital creek backcountry area north of Golden, didn't say whether skier, snowmobiler or other.

I heard there were two slides with injuries in each one. Not sure if both slides happened in the same area?

Sketchy snowpack out there right now. Not constantly sliding but when they let go they let go big. Time to pick terrain wisely for sure.

Yes I know the area. We have no info on this avy or the victim. We have been to the site and that only raised more questions.
Site is at 2150m North facing gully wall doesn't see sun until April with prime hoarfrost conditions. It was 18" to 24" deep at the crown and the burial hole was 4_5ft deep right in the Crux of the gully. We have had it slide triggered by a snowboarder before and the gully itslef has slid huge due to the upper bowl and head wall releasing.
There are alota big sledder triggered avys up there. We watched a sledder trigger a massive slide last year. Toe of debri was 20ft high. If he wasn't Wearing a air bag he probably would have died. We still can't believe he and machine stayed on top.
The snowpack on the north bench is totally different to the other side of the Columbia trench. It's the Rocky MTN snowpack not percels. Quartz and Gorman have a far deeper snowpack and receive much bigger dumps of snow.
