Thanks bud, glad you are ok. Haven't heard anything here or tgr.Yes I know the area. We have no info on this avy or the victim. We have been to the site and that only raised more questions.
Site is at 2150m North facing gully wall doesn't see sun until April with prime hoarfrost conditions. It was 18" to 24" deep at the crown and the burial hole was 4_5ft deep right in the Crux of the gully. We have had it slide triggered by a snowboarder before and the gully itslef has slid huge due to the upper bowl and head wall releasing.
There are alota big sledder triggered avys up there. We watched a sledder trigger a massive slide last year. Toe of debri was 20ft high. If he wasn't Wearing a air bag he probably would have died. We still can't believe he and machine stayed on top.
The snowpack on the north bench is totally different to the other side of the Columbia trench. It's the Rocky MTN snowpack not percels. Quartz and Gorman have a far deeper snowpack and receive much bigger dumps of snow.
How's trail in?First ones in silent only about 10 trucks. good snow in most spots but found some great snow. It was hard to see so I don't think anybody went in the back mostly in the trees today. Headed to radium going to try forester tomorrow
