**Correction: The orginal version of this story indicated the elder of the two victims was 35 years old. Golden-Field RCMP have confirmed the victim was 30 years old.**
A 30-year-old woman and her 11-year-old stepdaughter, both from Miami, Florida are dead following a tragic snowmobiling incident near Golden, B.C. on Wednesday.
According to RCMP, the two were part of a guided tour in the North Bench Trail area, northwest of the town of Golden, when tragedy occurred around noon.
A spokesperson representing Rocky Mountain Riders Snowmobile Tours and Rentals, a Golden-based business, confirms the fatalities occurred during one of the company's tours and the deceased were stepmother and stepdaughter.

Keith Davis of Davis Communications Group, speaking on behalf of Rocky Mountain Riders, says the victims were riding on the same snowmobile as part of a 10 sled guided tour. Davis says their sled veered from the path and crashed into a treed area.
The guides attempted to perform life-saving aid to the injured woman and girl for nearly 45 minutes until search-and-rescue members arrived and pronounced both victims dead.
Davis says the cause of the crash is not known as conditions at the time were good and the sled was positioned in the middle of the pack.
The identities of the deceased have not been released but RCMP confirm members of the victims' family were at the scene.
Staff at Rocky Mountain Riders confirm Wednesday's death were the first in the company's 14 year history and the company expresses its deepest sympathies to the family.
RCMP have launched an investigation into the incident.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family as well as the guys and girls at RMR.

Gorman and surrounding area were in great shape this weekend. The trail in was the worst I've seen it. Whooped on saturday. The stability was good. Did notice one slide in lang trees that always seems to go. Otherwise everything was holding great even some huge high marks on the lake slopes. Plenty of snow!

Road silent today. Were the only 2 people in. There was 8-12” of fresh. More in the trees. Visibility was poor and lightly snowed all day. Trail in not to bad but does get whooped. Still staging at KM 21. Was great day.
