Finally done my shed!

Well its the first time i have designed and built something this size myself.
10 x 14ft, Fully insulated walls, ceiling and door.
metal roof, great lighting, wood stove, built my own trusses, Not 1 nail in the whole thing. 3/4 inch floor,
It has taken me a long time to get completed, most work was done Feb/March, but just got it all finished up.
We have named it the overboard shed. As I went overboard on a lot of things I didnt need to.

Im very happy with how it turned out considering I am a terrible carpenter.

X2....but I am sorry to hear you didn't use any nails for the framing. Screws don't have the shear strength of nails.

i hate to inform you but did you get it approved by cyle, if not there will be a zillion things wrong with it. otherwise nice job, satisfaction in doing the job yourself.

I generally agree but I noticed the skids. Presumably, at some point in time it will be moved. Framing is best done with nails, period!

Putting screws in the sheathing on the floor, no problem. And that will prevent the squeaking Fossy is talking about.

I was a fan of screws for the easy assembly aspect but once I got into replacing decks and home reno's with my business, I found lots of broken screws.

I'm not here to hi-jack the thread just to make a small point for others contemplating the idea of shed building.

This shed will be a neat place for the those small repairs and the only problem jay007 will have is.......why didn't I make it a little bigger!!
(same problem we all have, I'm sure!)

fernie your right, screws are weaker, but it is already done. it is what it is, should be ok unless you move it around or have inspection by cyle.

I would have recommended some webing in the trusses, but with a metal roof, it probably won't hold any snow load.

Shouldn't take much wood to heat that baby to a sweat box!!!

Ya but are you going to tell him he's wrong? Guy is huge.

Shed looks great. It will do what it needs to and will stay together just fine. What's the point of telling him what he did wrong? Or at least in your mind wrong. Fuhcoff people.

I do plan on a mini fridge, just need to add I more shelf to clear up the room.

I think that I could have always built it bigger but I did make it to ba able to be moved once or twice. It was made to work on machines one at a time, not for storge, with one sled/quad/bike at a time theres lots of room to work.

I don't see the floor squeeking for a while, its 3/4 inch tongue and groove, over top of 2 x 6 with 16 inch centres.

I hope the roof will be strong enough, the hurricane brackets sure made it easier.

And I did get a chance to use the stove while it was cold out, -25 outside, 15 minutes of a roarin fire and had to open the door cause it was +35 inside! the stove is rated for 1300 square feet, so it heats the 140 square feet I have really easy. especiall since I insulated the crap out of it.

I am happy with it and I am sure it will last me for years to come.
