Have a look at these pictures of the primary off of my 2016 M8000. I really don't have much faith in it now, especially after seeing how often these Team clutches grenade. Do people think this clutch is done?

Great post Jeff, A/C quality control has really gone into the dumpster in the last few years. In the years i have own Cat's i have never seen it this bad. Poor fitment, snow ingestion, wiring issues, clutch issues with machining, tunnel strength issue's and on it goes.
I think some of these issues is because many of their component are no longer done in house but contracted out. Example is wiring, put together in Mexico by some old lady i'm sure. Almost lost KB sled because of it and Cat would not even acknowledge it.

Skip to 0:22 this supports thunder products post. With all the bolts removed my clutch cover was still STUCK on the clutch. The spring pressure wasn’t even enough to take it off. The ZRP cover went on flawlessly.

I inspected my clutch top to bottom before being shipped off to get balanced.

These are off my Buddy Tim's 2019 M8000.
He came with me to drop mine off at Central Sled and cycle today. And we were going to pick his up (seeing it was my bill to pay on his).

Before we loaded his up we figured lets check the clutch. As mine gernaded.
We aren't sure if these are casting marks or cracks.
So Jerry is going to Magnaflux it and let him know.


I hope Cat is good and honors us unfortunate riders that have clutch issues, with or without warranty.

Those are looking like stress fractures to me. May not be cracks yet but will be soon. A/C needs to step up and take care of their customers with this issue. I realize these are TEAM clutches and they are the real culprit here but it still falls on A/C to make this right. I expect something this fall from A/C be it a recall or exchange program (heavily discounted) to replace the TEAM with ADAPT clutches yes both of them. I think the reason for crickets now is the only replacement they have is with the same junk that is on there now. Hopefully they are building ADAPT around the clock to get enough inventory for this to happen.

I have seen this before and its usually caused by an alignment issue, the cracks develop on the stationary sheave of the clutch(engine side) because the heat from the engine and the belt scrub, in which you have(black rubber marking) over heats the area the cracks develop.
Make sure your alignment is correct.
I have also seen this by timid operators, essentially riding slightly off engagement a lot before really engaging the clutch. If that's the case you might need to recalibrate the clutch for her. I found the best cure was regear to a lower ratio if that's the case.
