80 days a year would be a tough feat considering you work and live in AB. I'm single and work 4 days a week and ill be around the 40 mark if I'm lucky. You must have a pile of holidays.

Maybe but I ride 3000 - 6000 km a year, divided by 30 km a day avg. = what. 80 days might not be to much. Ether way days might be a better way to messier mt. riding then km.

I find the poo VS doo talk hilarious. I am in the market for a new sled and have everyone and their dog telling me which one to get and why as well as why the other option is horrible. I am not brand loyal...in fact, I am bisledual...so I am taking a pro Jan 24-27th to ride and hopefully (time off request pending) riding the xm Jan 29-30. After which I will make a decision. I'm very curious to see which sled will come out on top for me. And no I really don't give a $hit about anyone's opinion as to which one I should get.

I think all sleds out there are fairly comparable now it just depends on rider preference. As far as them not being mountain ready well, I know I will take whatever new sled I get out stock then change from there as I see fit.
I see that the cat isnt on your list.

This is the first sled that I could ride stock for more than a day..... flat out love it.... only minor mods to do.

Lots of slander here. So I have owned and own pretty much all sleds. Rode and raced sleds since the 70s. I now rock the new doo's. xm 163. Renegade backcountry and many others. I love my new doo's but a cat and poo killer it isn't. The new m800 climbs right with me 15" wide or not. The cats are tough as any sleds. Fuel. Well I get 75-90 km a tank on my etec in the hills and 1/2 tank of oil a day. The m800s I ride with use less oil and fuel than me. Belts. I've tried to blow one. Today was sick deep and I had it smashed to the bar all day and can't even pull a cord. Major plus!!! I was hesitant to buy a doo cause everyone I've met was so blinded by the name they couldn't see through the shortblocks. Belts. Unpredictable handling ect. On that note the etec and doo finally has a motor that should last. I hope. I already have 1700 km and hope to hit 6000 this year. IMO the only sleds that will be long term tough and reliable is the cat and doo. Polaris has put a ton of sparkles on There advertisements and seem to have a strong hold on the market but the motors and chassis don't hold up to abuse and high mileage from what I've seen. I love sleds period.. And they all have come along way. Does one stand on top all alone. No way!! Does my doo climb higher or doo significantly better than the others. IMO. No. Are sleds the ultimate toy for smashing white gold! F@"k yeah! Ride fast and take chances everyone. No matter what u ride

very important.

cat is going to have to come up with a sled that is mountain inspired not RACE inspired....afterall the race track is very similar to the mountains......NAAT...

what ever works for ya buddy LOL. she soaks up the bumps good thats forsure. probly good for straight up climbs and meadows too LOL

your shocks get hot? fawk you must be cooking lol. although i cant say that iver ever touched them as they seem to be working fine LOL.

keep in mind it is a mountain sled. ive tried sleds with really good racing shocks and ya they are unreal on the trail but they really hinder mountain handling charactaristics.

My bad t, accidentally clicked love you post as I was scrolling down thru.
You know what else makes shocks not preform very good? Bending them in half as you slam A tree at 90 because you thought your mountain sled was actually a short track trail racer.... And not infact a mountain sled. Just something I have found... Just me.

I have a question for you doo guys. Since you love to bash this so called "race inspired" chassis, please explain to me why my "race inspired" sled is no good? I don't understand. It seems like you think u know what you're talking about but I'm having a hard time finding out facts from your point of view. I can lay my sled over as easy as any, my shocks are fine, they work for me and most everyone I know, my rear suspension gets up on the snow just fine. It seems to me that you just dislike cat, which is fine, but to imply that it's garbage doesn't seem fair to me without a reasonable explanation. I'm not trying to start anything but I think it's time you started backing up your statements instead of just blurting out false accusations. Your xm may be out of the box ready to ride because doo had to give you a pivoting suspension and make the front end as narrow as a snow hawk. That's fine. But think about the xp for a second, maxwell u said yourself you're after replacing pretty much everything on your old xp. I love my cat. I rode an xm for a little bit to give it a try, other then the handlebar setup which I can't get used to, I thought it was a good out of the box sled and I'm sure that they will work for most guys who buy them. But I cannot criticize them because I haven't ridden one long enough to do so fairly. Now the question I ask you is, how much seat time do u have on a cat, or on a poo, to justify you having these opinions? I rode the xm for maybe a half hour, and I felt awkward on it, but I can't tell you that the sled is trash cuz of the pivoting suspension... I can also understand that if the shoe was on the opposite foot here, you riding a cat or poo may seem a bit awkward to you because of the different geometries, so if u stated that the cat and doo are just not the sleds for you then I wouldn't have a problem. Every new chassis design has always needed some minor adjustments. Maybe one day maxwell when you take off your training wheels you can come to revy and we'll put our sleds thru their paces, see which brand is superior, maybe one day you will accept my invitation but I doubt it, I guess all we can do is sit behind our pc's/phones and bash one another ....

I would be interested in your engine life at 6000 km's and how much iso-flex is left in your pto bearing. Can you post a pic, even at 5000 km's..... just looking for your results..... mountain sleds should put more strain on the crank and bearings because of the terrain and larger tracks. I have a 2010 renegade with 5400 km's on it and I check my pto every year for iso-flex. So far, so good.... although I have added a tube of iso-flex in total over the last 2500 km's. Just looking for results with the etecs vs the p-tec.

thanks

Im looking forward to your explanation, as I'm sure a skillful rider as yourself with 80+ days/yr riding experience should have some sort of unbiased solution as to why all other sleds pale in comparison to the xm...

Except every xm I've ridden with I've killed up down and across.......... I'm not brand loyal and wont play that game, facts are facts...

I can tell you that the XM boys I ride with have both, and guess which brand gets left in the trailer more often than the other? Sorry, just the facts as I see them. :PDT_lam: As far as killing the XM goes, I have an old ZX you may want to meet... :p

Now that i can agree with. I came off an 05 rev to an 09 M8 and i fell in love with the M chassis other than the suspension on the trail. It was the worst riding sled ever untill i got off trail and thats where it shined. I could weave around my buddy on his xp when he was fighting it in the trees. Now i have the new proclimb and man what a world of difference. it took no time to get used to and i was goin places pushing my comfort level and coming out with ease. I can't say it enough how much i love this sled. I also was riding with a guy on a 13 pro 163 and that sled really impressed me as well and its bone stock. I also remember whipping past stuck xm's a few times only to get stuck and get passed by the pro and then another xm would go whipping by. Its personal prefernce IMO and they all suck a$$ when yer getting towed out!

i found the new cat felt a lot like the old xp.

There is no such thing as an unbiased opinion. People will choose whatever they think is best and will think that way as long as they own that product. People take so much pride in their material possessions its ridiculous.

How can someone like myself who is currently doing research into what's a good starter sled when all I see are bashing threads. With everyone bashing everything, it really looks like it doesn't matter what sled I get because apparently everyone loves the sleds they have and will bash anything else. Want proof other than these forums? Lol. Mac vs PC, vehicles, phones, gaming systems, TVs, etc. all have such big numbers of fanboys that its redonkulous. I don't deny that I have not participated in such debates, but its still crazy.

That's how much everyone's opinion can differ. I still feel uncomfortable on the XP after jumping off my ProClimb. We have all brands in our group and honestly; they all take us to spots we really shouldn't be in. Ride what brand you like peeps and respect everyone else's decision on their choice of sleds. I'm gonna be taking Snowseeker's '13 Pro out of his hands for awhile at Mountain Mania, hoping to try an XM too.

From my experience on a 13 pro, they come with scratchers because they need them to keep cool. In december, I rode the 13 pro three days and all three days it was overheating going up the trail without them down, as soon as I stopped and put them down temp dropped back to where it should be. The trail had great coverage, snow was soft, temps were around -7ish and the rear skid was full of snow. Was riding with a 13 cat and an 11 etec that had no scratchers down( etec had no scratchers at all) and no temp issues with either of those sleds
Pro RMK's come with scratchers as standard.

Agreed. I don't think any one brand is much better then the others. From what I have seen they all need some work.

This is because of the Polaris extremely small cooling area in the tunnel. 2 small tubes. This is where they shed 10-15 lbs but sacrifice on trail performance. I can run an Etec with a 3" track and no snowflap without cooling issues

Ok Max....got to call you on that. Lol. Baker sets up all his 3 inch track conversions with scratchers on the ski's and on the rails. And they run there snow flaps. You must be diving into the powder right off the trailer. Lol.

I would glady add a lil weight to keep it at a temp it should be. Overheating is a pain in the ass, and so are running scratchers. On a day when u got a great trail with fresh snow on it you shouldn't need to put a scratcher down at all, but with that pro its a must. The one day at Bell we had 4 inches of fresh on the trail and it was still overheating, what a joke they can keep their flickable junk IMO. I have a 13 pro as a demo for this entire season and dislike it so much I will not be riding it at all anymore. Told the dealer thanks for the oppurtunity and the use for this season but you can keep it or find another guy to demo it. Put almost a 180 miles on it and hated every minute of it. Would glady ride an 11 m8 over it all day, or a new proclimb, hell I even like my buddies etec better than the pro
