Rode owls today - went back over toward stach cabin - snow seemed to be blown in - was decent snow - trail in great shape - unfortunately my buddy lost a Polaris hard pack - just curious if anyone seen one

We went back on to the lake and rode around then headed over towards Hunters down in to the ravine then headed towards stash before bugging out. Saw nothing, sorry. There were alot of riders out there, somebody might of snatched it up.

First post in awhile used to leave it to my Wingman the Shermantor who is out with a broken wing for the season the selfish Bast**d. Headed out to Blue Lake yesterday with some bud's from Thunder Bay who graciously agreed to spend the winter here so I would not have to ride alone. Headed to the Cabin on a freshly groomed trail it was awesome I have to say that was the good part, Socked in up there so not much adventuring up higher, road the trees on the way in and...... there has been a dusting of snow but nothing close to what the reports indicate. We need a huge refresh to enjoy what I like to ride, all the area's are tracked out pretty much and even adventuring further into the trees will get you the odd spurt of pow but not what most would like. I'm guessing we are 3 to 4 feet below last year at this time and need a couple of good storms to roll through and reset the playing field.

Last year was a 10+ year snow year. This year is normal looking at the survey results but what I've noticed is with the slow start and warm valley temps is the snowpack gets thin very quickly as you drop elevation this year. It's seasonal at high elevation but lacking in the lower areas, trees aren't filling is as nicely and still lots of logs to hop.

Thanks to Members, Staff, Cooks and Friends of the Eagle Valley Snowmobile Club who came out Sunday to the Owlhead Cabin to cut Firewood (cords and cords!), clean up the cabin and shed, install a new snow level pole and even help rescue a couple lost sledders. A special thanks to the team from Woodsman Equipment for all their efforts to help make the day a success.

A group us have been riding at Sicamous the last couple of days, although another good dump of snow is desperately needed I have to send a big kudos out to the club. Your trail grooming here is absolutely top notch!! The trails are in fantastic shape and very friendly people at the staging area...great job guys and gals, well done!!

A question for the locals...in Eagles Pass looking south(I think) there’s a heli pad up on the highest peak. Is there a chopper sitting there all day waiting for a call or monitoring conditions? Avy control?

Cheers

I think you are talking about the restored fire lookout. The roof is designed to be used as a heli pad.

Yeah the new cabin is designed to hold a chopper. There's lots of heli skiing in the south end of EP some of the choppers probably stage there while waiting to pickup skiers.

I could not agree more. Rode Sicamous Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Trails/grooming were awesome and people at the staging are fantastic! Well done!

How was the trail towards the end of the day? Last time we rode there it was great in the morning and by end of day 2’ whoops on the entire way down. Never been so tired. I think both the days we rode though were record number of sleds according to the attendant in the lot though.

I'm guessing you rode between Christmas and New Years. I've been involved with the club for the past 14 years and the four busiest riding days of the year are Dec 27/28/29 and 30. Unfortunately, this Christmas we also had lower snow levels and warmer temps to contend with. Hopefully next time you are out, the trails will be smooth both ways as reported above!

hows the snow guys any recent pics?

Can’t seem to load any pics lately but Blue was tracked out, what we did find in the trees was really settled and some crust. Eagles and Queest were much better but still had to hunt for it...we found enough to send us home happy though!
