Good point. Canada Post is the cheapest shipping and also the cheapest brokerage fees. Try running a parcel in from the states with Fedex or Purolator. Without getting into all the union issues, CP would be missed by many if they just disappeared. $14 every time you needed to send a letter? Need that one-off small cheap item made in China, like a decal that is worth $15? Well, it takes 20 days to get it, but it comes over for $15, shipping all in. If you use whatever courier, that cost is now $50.
There is some weird agreements with international postage. Canada signed a contract with China to deliver post packages from China to Canada for like $2. So for all the vendors in China, they can ship to Canada for super cheap.
Of course, Canada Post's actual cost to make that delivery is like $20, so they lose $18 every time someone orders a cheap trinket direct from China.

In our town UPS will not deliver. They get it to Calgary and then pawn it off onto Purolater or an independent courier the rest of the way

They also suck balls. Won’t deliver to my address but will deliver a notice that they won’t deliver.
Hate that so much. Have a notice stuck to my door that package will be delivered to Staples in city 15 min away then I have to wait 2 days for them to take it there and Staples hours suck so had to kill time until they open at 10am. Pretty sure the box of bearings would have been just fine sitting on my steps.

They want more money for Memtal health Because of climate change. Working in the heat and working in the cold is hard.... they must have forgotten what cpuntry they were in.
Reading that article makes it sound like they hard done by. Give me a break. I’ve worked in the scorching heat as well as -40C. It comes with the territory.

What a bunch of sissies. Shut the whole thing down (letter carriers and management) and start fresh. There is a very negative vibe flowing through the system that is very evident with the balance sheet and it isn’t going to be fixed by throwing more money at it.
Yup, axe it all. Sure seems like some people need a reality check.

Everything sucks. Trying to find ways to get all my year end stuff done. Signing up for pre authored payments and online banking. Takes awhile to get people on the phone and get the ball rolling

You don’t have online banking?
That little world in beautiful downtown Milo is holding you back.
Oh I do but I’m a dinosaur Doug. I still like getting a paper bill and paying with a cheque. Easier to track for me for year end stuff
