In another thread, there were a few jabs going back and forth about brand bashing. Everyone has an opinion about their particular brand and how its so much better than another or that someone elses brand copied theirs
Here's my issue with this, in nearly 11 years of mountain riding there have only been a couple of times where someone on another brand has ever come and ridden with me or my group just to see if they could hang with our Doos.
I love the challenge. If you can climb higher, faster through more difficult terrain than me, I wanna ride with you. If its your sled thats making the difference, I wanna know that too! maybe my next sled will be like yours.
unfortunately its always the same scenario. We'll be messing around in an area while a few "other" brand riders will watch for a couple minutes and then move on.
If you see the 13 XM with the goofy General Lee decals on it, come on over and SHOW me how your sled is better than mine.
Forget the new chit, or even pick new chit.....
I started mountain riding in 95, and there are MANY, MANY, MANY others that have more time and exprience than me. As well as just plain better riders!!!
Pick any "Brand" you want, BUT............... 500 Fan, 121" or 1331/2" or 136" track!
I'd be happy to go for a rip with you then
You just brought back a memory from the winter of 2002-2003: A group of us were riding at Chappel in good powder snow when I watched a fellow (who can ride, I know him) make a pull up a decent hill with his then new Brand "x" machine with a 995 Price motor and a 156" track. Long story short, he planted it, and a young woman very skillfully piloted a stock Skandic WT up to, past, and back down to him to offer assistance (yes, she was sidehilling). Let's just say his weekend was pretty much done at that moment LOL. Trust me when I say, it is ALMOST always the rider that makes the difference. I know I don't ride nearly as aggressively as I used to, and do depend on the sled way more then we used to - they are simply easier to ride, and can make up for some talent loss...
But when you put a good rider on an inferior sled you are limiting them.

That would be called a trike, Willy.
Been in the mountains for only 8 yrs now but the comment a guy said ealier that he got on a buddys sled and said his sled is better is full of it every sled rides different even if their the same brand. Been riding motorcycles for 40 yrs now and their is no way I can ride my friends bike better than my own so whos bike is better. My son got to try all different types of sleds before he picked a 2011 m8 and we had it diled in by kenny at mountain magic and that sled kicked ass all winter long against any other stock sled. But like a guy said earlier the rider makes the differance and my son started riding in the mountains when he was 9 and he turns 18 this year. Still I have a buddy who rides in the creston bc area and hes the best ive seen, he makes it look easy and effortless when i'm busting my ass. He has a old modded sled that looks like a piece of ch!t but he gets places ive seen stock sleds can't and all he has is about 150 hp with a 141"x 2" track and it only weighs 410 lbs and ive seen him go wear a turbo goes but it just takes him a little longer to get their.Their was also this one time in valemont I seen this xp being towed by a old yamaha bravo that this old trapper was riding. We had a chance to talk to the guy on the xp and he said he broke down wear no one could get to and then this old trapper on a even older yamaha bravo showed up and towed him down the hill so who has the better sled or whos the better rider. Yes the sled does help but the rider can sure make a big differance so lets all have a good winter on what ever we like to rideI think alot of it is "percieved" brand bashing as well. If someone comes on here and asks whether to buy an XP or an M series.........its a no brainer. XP all the way. Not because Im doo loyal......because its a better chassis. I like skidoo. But if someone came on asking whether to buy a ZX chassis or a pro rmk.......hey, another no brainer. Id have too pull my supposed doo blinders off and tell the guy to buy the Pro.
And for the guys that honestly like the M series, or some other older chassis....thats great. Thats the most important thing, that you love what you ride. But I honestly think if you jumped off an M onto any of the newer chassis like the XM,XP, Rev, Pro, IQ, Proclimb and honestly gave them a chance you would have the same opinion.
Biggest thing to remember is this is hobby, past time, recreational activity......call it whatever you want. Dont let yourself get too upset about it if someone dares to say the sled you ride isnt the best sled ever made.
Bottom line is we have some pretty freakin amazing sleds to pick from these days. I would gladly ride any of the new sleds the top three are putting out. Been thinking about getting a new sled and its honestly a coin toss between the RMK and the XM. Love the Doo chassis, but you cant ignore how light the RMK is. Throw the cat engine in either one of those and it would be game over. Doo has a good engine, but they just dont have the lifespan the suzukis do.
There's no problem with brand bashing and having a personal preference. It just sucks when every single thread goes to $hit because of the dildos who feel the need to boost their post count and promote their own brand. I usually hit this site for the laughs, definitely not for unbiased help or information.

A fair comparison not even close if u have a chance talk to any good rider u will hear them say it takes riding time to learn what a sled or any machine will do before they can compare the differances. I've heard lots of guys claim how good they are but the ones ive seen over the years show it instead of talking about it. Also wear u ride doesn't make u a good rider because no one else will go their it just means the other guys are smart enough to no when their out of their comfort zone. Had a group of guys watch my son ride and the more expereanced rider said no way to going wear my son was going and it doesn't mean my son is a better rider but it does show the other guy is a smart rider. Like ive said many times a monkey can hit the throttle but it takes a smart rider to get up a hill.Full of it? Didn't you read my last sentence? My point was that it was a more fair comparison because the same person was on both sleds in the same conditions.
Perfect. Down the mountain. At midnight beside the ski stand. I will be passed out in my wheelbarrow. Just give it a nudge.
Ill be ready.
i kinda worry a bit more about the persons back country experience and if they can use their tools... who cares what u ride 0.o but nobody likes a green pussy .
