We all know that a lot of the reserves do not put their money to good use. But in reality its no different then the elected officials in our government. Redford for example wasted money on the Olympics and lets not forget the whole fighter jet fiascal. And why the hell do we keep sending millions to Africa its a continent not a country and there is a lot of wealthy countries there. So when we send money to Africa where does it go? Instead of getting pissed off at the natives how about start asking the government to open all their books. Politicians are always to generous spending our hard earned tax dollars and wasting it.

Sorry but that is complete and utter BS. Politicans have to be acountable far more than band chiefs.....PLUS, we can vote them out. CAN i vote out a crooked band chief who is STEALING my money ????? A lot of natives want self goverment, but sorry we have goverment for EVERYONE in this country, the one that gets voted in......Sending money to other countrys has litle bearing on Natives stealing from thier own people`s resources.
That goes for Sharia law and anyone else who wants to overrule our democracy !!!!

So start a new thread, do not deflect the issues relevant to this thread's topic with side bar issues.
Let's stay on course of the original issue.
Of all of the issues you mentioned above only one has a hidden agenda closed book policy that has blocked audits(Reservation spending).
61% of the lastest pole says Canadian citizens have had enough of the overall corruption and waste
And as for the original topic of Aboriginal protests.........they are bringing to light the corruption, waste and hand out attitude on the reservations. About time, who would have thought a broth strike (it is NOT a hunger strike) and IDLE NO MORE (Born of misconception - what part of C-45 is the problem?) would have opened up so much? The pictures of the protest sites also show the "respect for the land" of these people that like to perform illegal blockades promoted by their chiefs.(let's just call them what they are, ILLEGAL).

So lets stick to one topic please, if you have other issues start other threads.
The deflection of the present situations with the use of past issues in history are what is holding these people back.

Deflection and denial coupled with their present corruption will solve nothing.

The difference is.....the governments books ARE open. The auditor general makes sure of that every year. Otherwise we wouldn't know about "fighter jet fiascos" or any of the other numerous examples we could come up with.

Maybe you cant vote them out. But the people that belong to the band can. They do hold elections on reserves for Chief and council.

.... every 2 years in fact! But I did talk to a native friend of mine and asked her what she thought... she felt the only good that would come out of these protests is the accountability.... so I asked her why she couldn't contact the chief and council herself and ask to see the books and she said that if she made waves that she would lose her job (she works for the band as a health care worker ) ... and she can't afford to do that as she is raising foster kids.... she said it is very sad!

So in fact what you are saying is: I can not vote in your elections regarding your bands financial affairs.yet you can vote on who should run my countries affairs.
Sorry but I find that racist, unjust and unfair to the rest of the taxpayers of this country...

Its no different than if you live in Edmonton you cant go to Calgary and vote in the civic election. And also natives could not vote in a federal or provincial election till 1967.

Again we are talking voting across the country, nothing to do with another city...
I refuse to go around and around on this with you. Just remember this though............
Untill your people begin to help themselves and stop blaming everyone else for their problems, nothing will change for the better.

Good luck and i wish you well......

And i agree the people on the rez and off have to help themselves but we are all not poor drunk indians. Like many people view us and a lot have taken the steps to change. And that is the point im trying to make. Society also must change as to how they view us.

i understand you are a very proud man and have done very well for yourself. you feel that it is your duty to stick up for your people but it seems like a very difficult row to hoe. if only you put as much effort forward to help out your fellow man for the better as you do to deffend them it would go alot further. [ if you dont like how people veiw you them change the veiw]

To shake the image that has developed there must be change first. A speeder is viewed as a speeder until there is change by the speeder not society. Sorry but the problem lies not with society, we only view what is laid out before us and we see no change or even a people's leadership's plan to change life on the reservations.

Then why am i still dicraminated against judged on my race. My wife who is white still had no idea that it still happens till after we met. And she has been a witness to the crap i put up with. Why because i am a native and people see that first. They do not see me as hard working, tax paying Canadian.

Why? Are you kidding.
How many natives protesting in the streets to have someone stop the corruption, stop the chiefs and councils from steeling the funds, where are the protest signs for the hundreds of millionare chiefs to give the money back to the people, stop the bleeding of society and after generations have a plan to finally make somthing of themselves on the reservations. Why is there absoultly and uterly no public representation by native groups to stop the damage being done. Why are these natives totally nonexistant in the public eye. Where is the blockade asking to stop the internal BS on the resevations. Where are the bockades for all the wrongs being committed by natives. You actually expect perception to change when no commitment is shown? There is no grey zone, you are part of the solution or part of the problem, a passivist is not a solution. Shed the hatred of the past and make a future.
You seem like a nice guy trying hard but the ones doing the damage in "present times" seem to be grossly outweighing you good guys. Sorry for you suffering because of this but until there is open commitment there will likely be no change in perception.

The government books are open! And 20-30 thousand for our leader and support staff is a lot different then 1.5 trillion not that eather are wright!

How is that true? I see all that same ch!t in the city and its not the natives.

First of all the people in the city which some are native don't get government handouts like the reserves. The problem with the native people ( that don't work to better them selves or blame the white man or the government for their problems) is themselves, I could blame ice cream for making me fat but ice cream did not force its way down my thought the spoon did!the native people blame the white people and say they have not received enough money to help them out! But at 2 million for each native and that is not enough! Do the first nations people think we are stupid?
