Well I read this whole thread, my favorite was the guy who said he liked the extra weight of the 850 for the increased traction. Now thats funny. Sorry fellas seen a ton of comparisons between these 2 and the new Polaris is a great quad all around, but for performance in mud, muskeg, snow, or sand, you stick the same tires on each, the Can-Am is a clear winner. The comparison with the Brutes, give me a break, in the mud its like apples to oranges and the reason theres a price difference is cause there sure as hell should be.
If you enjoy the deep mud and loon$hit type riding, the Can-Am is certainly the best choice and on this 4m I've heard of tons of frame issues, in real life..not so much.
And if you don't really want a performance quad, ..........well nah, thats just silly talk.

I am not sure where you figure this comparison with the Brutes? In the mud with a can-am set up the same as my brute I can go just as far and just as deep as they can although the Brutes are almost 100lbs lighter. Now if you are talking top speed racing then yes the Can-am wins hands down.

Can-ams are excellent machines and I hear the new polaris 850's are as well so it all comes down to if you want the fastest or the most comfortable ride. Try them out and see which one you like better.

I guess you must hate the xmr alot then....lol .Seeing that it wieghs more than the polaris 850, ohh and they built it for mud ! So why would they build a MUD QUAD for mudd and make it one of the heaviest out there ???

Seeing as Greg Macmullen (Gorilla Axle owner) had a hand in developing it and he STRAPS weight to there bikes when they race and seem to do real well. It would appear you really don`t know what your talking about....

Too bad you were not at the Rimbey mud bogs to see the 850 xp beat every can am there except a turbo....lol

Extra weight is all fun and games until you get stuck, all that extra traction gets you VERY stuck.

Yes, in the snow, Can-Am's are great. I had one beat my XP because I had offset wheels and it got me high centred lots.

BUT! They just gotta be so darn expensive, which is why the Brutes are the next best thing.... It's like a 'Ham with a manual diff-lock and no DPS... and roughly 100lbs lighter. Brutes are GROSS 651 lbs.

That,s good to hear and thanks for the help again, this is great information, definatly going with the offset rims and will look into the lift if I can get the same length to height ratio back in this quad then I may consider a lift as well and pick some tires. Thanks again.

Hey man, no problem. If you got any more questions I'd be happy to give you my insight.

He didn't have to be at Rimbey, I got those drags on video.

Damn those extra weights people seem to put on their front racks... They must be begging to get stuck....

Blah, blah, blah. Once I saw a Yammi phaser clean up on a 06 Rev with a 160 inch track, once I saw a stock gas job outpull a stock diesel, once I caught a fish this long. You go ahead and set up your XP for the mudbogs, and add a bunch more weight cause....you seen it works. LOL.. But hey relax, don't get angry, we'll just get a heavier winch put in and wait on the far side and have a beer while u r trying to follow so we can winch you out a bit quicker,

Nice dodge, are you in politics ?

Nope, and I don't fall in love with any particular brand because of the name either, I make amy decisions on watching what works best and has the best performance and highest fun factor. And adding a bunch of weight to my sled, quad or dirtbike, or anything else I have to wrestle or winch or get unstuck, is not something I see in my future, as long as it doesn't negatively affect dependability. Differents strokes....etc.

I agree , however i have owned a brute and a renegade and honestly any of my rzr`s would out mud them if there was a bottom. A little weight one way or the other made no difference. Most big bores are in the 750 to 900 lb class of weight , add mud ,a rider some extra crap, bumpers ,winch, and we are talking WELL over a thousand lbs .
I used to worry about the little weight diffrence ,then i realized it made no difference at all. I now know tires ,ground clearence and power are much more relevent to mud performance.....

Sorry, not trying to be difficult but....if theres a bottom, take a jeep, you'll stay clean, got a nice stereo hell u could even have air conditioning. I suspect we go atv'ing in different kinds of places. Have fun.

Mud bogs when the first started out had mostly Brutes, then came the PoPo's and Hams. Now those are all you see there.

Ever notice how Brutes have weights on the front rack while Poo's and 'Hams have nothing?

Weight...

Let me say i don`t think Popo`s are the best. The old 600/700/800 sportsmans were some of the worst engineered bikes made IMO. I think the new 850 is a great all around bike, ten times the bike of the old sportsmans. For the price a great machine, never have i said they are the best.

Canam as i have said many times are at the top of the list,BUT they cost more....So, it depends how you define best i supose...Cost,performance,reliability,ride ; every one has there reasons for making the buying decision they did.
However when some one come on here and says ,you might as well drive a jeep or you won`t be able to go where i go. Or claims if your not on a canam you will never follow ,etc etc....It puts the perception out there that because they paid more their bike will go thru every hole and no other brand will...lol . Let me say NOT ALL c/a owners think like this ,but the few on here who do like the one yapping in this post earlier certainly do a great job of proving my point.....
As most would agree ride what you like ,the top 3 or 4 are all pretty good now a days....

I have said it before there's places my old lady takes her kingquad that I get stuck with my outlander. But I prefer riding my outlander compared to all the others I have rode Wich is all but the new brute. I like to say and think mine is the best along with everyone else as they say theirs is. Just seems people that don't have a can am get upset when we say can ams are the best. Everyone has there favoirite and mine happens to be the outlander and I really like my kingquad. Two very different machines.

In addition to ththe points made, what I notice is there always seems to be some loudmouth side by side driver who believes apparently he's got the only one in existence cause he is on here beaking about how his rzr is the bomb and we'd never follow him (if theres a bottom LOL ) on our quads with similar HP and 500 lbs less weight, while the rest of us in the real world ride with all types of machines , some like exactly like his... and while we can see actual comparisons, his same machine would kick a$$....why, cause its special. And thank god someone let the secret out to the uninformed masses....u want better performance......add a bunch of weight.
So , that said, I agree the old poo quads were troublesome, the new ones far better, the Grizzlys have lots of great qualitys, my wife has an 08 700 and she loves it, the newer brutes i think work well and are usually priced better, Suzuki..Nah, and the CanAms are a good quad, lots of power and funfactor priced high. I'm not in love with any of em, my experiences have been as I said, performance and fun factor CanAm # 1 , Brute # 2 Grizzly # 3 and I don't actually think I'm old enough for a Poo quad yet, but they sure ride nice. LOL.
