Been there for years! Lots of speculation and I can’t remember what actually happened. I know everyone is pretty hush hush over it.

Went for a nice burn last night. Pipestone to wapati gardens. Then back to flag beach. River is low. With a 12 deg made it interesting. A lot of fun for sure. Scrubbed a couple times I did have a full load too which didn’t help.

Cheers

Re: 2020 Boating Pics & Vids

So I’ve been wanting to do a little river journey the last few years. well it’s a pretty damn big journey probably around 1500km. A old coworker rips to the athabasca sand dunes from ft Mac area. I’m thinking of buying a boat next summer and tagging along. I would be checking out the sand dunes and the ghost towns on the same journey. It won’t be a new boat but I’m thinking of spending 20-30g. The boats in the price range that I’m looking at usually Have the 175 merc sport jets or 200 plus optimax. A few of them have older v8s. I’ve never owned a jet drive before but am curious about fuel milage with the motors I mentioned. The boats are 17-20ft.

So a person could get fuel in Fort chip at the very start of lake athabasca then go out to the sand dunes and to the ghost towns across the lake. I think buddy said it’s 8.5 hours at 35mph to get to ft chip.

Here’s a screen shot of the ghost towns.

Buddy of mine did it this summer from Fort Mac. He had a couple barrels of fuel packed with him because places are limited way up there. Not sure his mileage but he has the 200 sport jet

All depends on the boat. 12deg lite boat with the sport jet 7 gallons per hour loaded up with gear. My buddies have them and do that trip and that’s what they get. My boat with a 200 is 10-12 gallons per hour. But it’s heavy and 8deg. Some older b8’s were scary hard on fuel. But then I went with a guy this year with a 20’ boat and a 460 ford and he hardly burnt any fuel. New v8’s are awesome on fuel.

Best to go across the lake in the middle of the night. Less chance of wind. Buddies did that trip and hit a storm 6-8 foot waves. But said it was a wicked trip. They have a cabin on the south side of the lake.

35 mph? was he in a canoe? lol

Pretty sure it’s for Fuel Econ when your going where there’s not much or no fuel you conserve what you have. As for a canoe speed I did 70km of the north sask this past summer we averaged 7mph was able to hit 12 mph if we paddled hard.
