Best to go across the lake in the middle of the night. Less chance of wind. Buddies did that trip and hit a storm 6-8 foot waves. But said it was a wicked trip. They have a cabin on the south side of the lake.

Good tip. This past summer I ran into a 70km wind storm late afternoon on a other side of a 8km long lake. My 20ft Lund took on some water. Don’t really want to run into that again....

20-21 ft boat with 350 , Hamilton or pressure pump with pump in good shape will make really good MPG if and around the 8 gallons per hour .
Will do better then any SJ for big trips loaded heavy .
Pump efficiency is key as a wore out pump will only burn more fuel .
This isn’t a boat with plastic and big drop chines on it made for shallow water .
Reason I said 350 is your price range won’t get you into the newer power plants .
Big fishing lodges might supply you with fuel if you give them enough notice ?
Have heard guys do that trip with prop boats as well .
