whats the difference between the mountain cat alpha and the hardcore alpha?

- Coils as mentioned instead of air.
- wider extrusion on outside of boards so boards are roughly 3/4” - 1” wider, way less bending, and have double row of teeth.
- they get the 17 and older thicker tunnel material. I measured against my 18 MC. Not sure if the MC and regular alpha also get this material
- 2 colour choices: green/grey/black and red/grey/black

I thought the 2 colour choices was just for the snowcheck but I guess I was wrong. The boards are definitely wider and stiffer but I didn’t notice today if they were different on the regular alpha’s or not. Wasn’t really thinking about it as they weren’t all side by each to compare at the dealer today.

Ya only colour choice is on hardcore, and all the mtn sleds are only snowcheck this year, no in season sleds,,, well, except for the ones “people backed out of their snowcheck” ones. For sure only hardcore receives the burlier boards. Regular and MC stick to same as last year.

Color choice was only between elec start and pull start on the 165. Elec start being grey and green. Was my understanding.

I think 154 was manual start only. But 2 color choices.

Elec start has slightly bigger gas tank and bigger seat. Battery is under the back of the seat.

and heavy duty boards

I cut mine off right away, replaced with a real board, and modified the brake rotor guard and moved the toe kicks up. Mayb next year Cat will put a real board on them and fix the toe kicks so we can actually get our feet in the box. Great idea to make them thicker and stronger but the design needs to be redesigned by an engineer who doesn’t have pointed shoes on.
