Nice little set up, the only thing is i doubt you'll ever need to change out the plugs out there. LOL
I love ridding my buddies ascender over any others, its a riot to ride and has been solid.

Yeah but Murphy’s law and my luck I better carry a set. Lol. I’m going to modify it a bit to attached the tool kit. It’s a blast to ride forsure.
I had my first ride on the Hardcore yesterday.
Absolutely incredible. I love it.
Im coming off an 05 King Cat so this is a huge change to say the least. It will be a learning curve for a while but I was amazed what I could do at 1/2 throttle.
Our ride yesterday was mainly lakes, untouched swamps and power lines. Snow was deep for here, over my waist. Nice that this area is touted for its trail system so the boondocking is pretty much unmolested.
Sled is still in break in mode but performed very well. Only minor issues were fuel gauge flaking out on the way home and the snow flap getting eaten sometimes in reverse.
Eta. Just found this picture I took. All untouched and ours as far as you can see.

sweet rig. Yes the cold does strange things. Braving the cold today.
I unhooked the throttle switch and rtv up the air box. So curious how it runs today.

I’ve read a lot about the air box / intake issues before I had this in hand. I ordered the mountain fit defender as a preventative measure.
Friday night when I was able to tear things apart I noticed no real issues.
Mine has a rubber gasket where the hood fits into the intake to throttle bodies. That is new from the pictures I’ve seen of fixes where it seems plastic on plastic mating together.
Bear to get back together. I di-electric greased the heck out of the gasket before I put it back together.
Snow was coming over the hood yesterday for most of the day. I guess I’ll know once I tear it apart again if AC rectified this or not.

The only real cure to the air intake is a prefilter between the hood and air horn. It fixes it 100%. Never seen anything else work as well.

I've done at least 5 maybe 6 Cats now, easy fix. The first one was my own and its on its second season, zero issues.
No Cats should go into the snow with out this modification done. I even have one on boost (Sidekick) running on its second season.

oh ok so its your version of the defender intake, same concept only yours likely isnt 200 bux?
I like that.
I took hood off yesterday, had no water/moisture where the hood attaches in before throttle bodies and I got a teaspoon out of the intake track when I was rolling the hood around.
Would be stupid of me NOT to install the defender since I already have it.
I assume the nosecone is pretty straight forward to take apart?

Yeah Is easy. 8 ish screws. You need to take the side pieces off the hood to get to one screw underneath

Yep, picked up some bulk prefilter and made them up. Easy.

Nope, fitment of the entire hood is part of the problem a snorkel won't fix it. Even with the snorkel you will find water in the air box.

Delete the airbox.
Silicon hose right to the throttle bodies.

The problem is in the nose cone part where the hood slides into the intake to the throttle bodies, always leaks a little in there, ive never had an issue but usually that lets in moisture
Put a flashlight in nosecone hole. U can see lots of daylight at the seams and at bottom of nose cone. I could on mine anyway. If cat wanted to shed weight that center piece of hood weights a lot when hood is apart. They would have shaved weight on hood and just made the intake all one thinner molded piece.
Put in the mountain fit defender today. A lot more than 8 screws so I wonder if that’s changed.
At least it’s done now and I don’t have to worry. Lots of rtv between the filter base and nose cone.
