How do you get the exhaust bog to go away on a 2018 mountain cat 800? Already sealed the intake.

I haven’t had any bogging issues with my 19. But this is something that might help get more cold fresh air when the upper intake is plugged. The holes are protected by the plastic in front of it. So would be hard to puncture with a branch. My BDX bumper protects the holes better than the stock bumper also.

Running stock can? Might have to try this.

Johnny, does your 18’ have an exhaust deflector mounted on the bottom of the belly pan in front of the exit of the exhaust? Some of the early model 18’s didn’t come with the deflector. I find it makes a huge difference in the deep. Also the power valve cables stretch and should be checked and adjusted for optimal performance, they will cause a bog if they are out of spec. Depending on how bad the bog is and at what rpm it’s happening there was a bad batch of wiring harness’ as well that can cause a bogging issue but are pretty consistent and will practically throw you over the bars when this issue comes up.

They have the exhaust deflector. Seems to bog when snow gets jammed up. By exhaust though. A bog as in there is barely enough power to move the track and get stuck and will only recover if the snow is removed from the exhaust.

Rode a buddies 850 doo yesterday and it was deep. Not one single bog ever, ran like a top. It was a 2018 though so I blew 2 belts.
I hate loud cans but if that's what it takes to get this to go away, I'll do it.

Try a different can and that might help your problem. We rode sicamous last weekend with about 5-6' fresh in the creeks we were in. No exhaust bog on my 20 with the GGB can and both 850 doos had no bog either or the 800 poo all running aftermarket cans. Can would be an easy start and lots of cans out there that arent obnoxiously loud. Couple hundred to be able to ride your machine is pennies imo

A 19top gear will eliminate future belts probs. A $75 gear from aftermarket or free from a fellow SM’er who changed a Doo to a belt drive.

My friend used to blow a belt every 400kms on his 2017 850 Doo g4. His latest belt has 1150km on it and still going. He rides with 86lbs of extra gear and isn’t easy on the sled. Even with the extra weight, he outclimbs other G4’s that have no extra weight. Cheers!

Now get outta the Cat thread with the Doo spew! Haha

If you seriously blew two belts, I would take a bog over $400 a day in belts....

Johnny next time you ride your sled take your hood off and have a look in front of your throttle bodies, if you have any discolouration or milky fluid in front of your throttle bodies you are ingesting snow, should just have a light film of the same color oil thats in your tank mixed with some fuel. Anything other then the same color as your oil then your getting snow in from somewhere. Re silicone your nose cone, and check your upper intakes for any gaps

Thanks guys, lots of good ideas to try here. My buddy used a friends can yesterday to test and still had the bog. Gonna try the stuff in this thread as well as an overly aggressive exhaust outlet deflector.

There is a program in CAT2 to cycle and check the operation of the exhaust valve servos, I'd check that too.
