I think Joe and Paul are both stand up guys. I have worked with Joe for the past several years so that's where I am coming from. A challenge with the etec is the massive torque out of the hole. If you don't load the sled up enough you will over rev, the sled will pull timing back and just...
The Dynamo Joe kit is very good and the best add on to the sled money can buy (shocks and skis too). I have ran, installed and tuned many of these kits back for at least 10 yrs. One key is the helix, with multiple angles to position the right helix angle with load/speed. A simple 40 straight...
The etec pulls really strong off the bottom and you really need to load it up until it won't pull rpm. 412 ramps won't work with the stock helix (stall the shift). Can you find a set of 415 ramps and a violet secondary spring. Maybe a 130/360 primary (160/360 -purple/purple I think with 413...
The load on the sled changes with many factors and engine power changes mostly with elevation. To get the rpm up quick, you need to increase the initial angle of the helix. To hold rpm while climbing, reduced the helix angle. Spring force (initial and final) plus ramp angle and pin weight all...
We looked at most of the brands up to the $60,000 range, both Pull Type and 5th wheels. There is three quality categories; Real sh!tty - most of the Forest River Products, mid line - Fusion products, top quality - Desert Fox. In the end, except for the Desert Fox, I just couldn't live with the...
Yes, so true! The bleeding edge. The manufacturers won't take the risk, they all will wait to see what works, what doesn't, what is popular and what isn't! The guys that designed, built and refined those custom sleds to work where they need to work, brought the sleds to where they are today.
I think the sleds from all the manufacturers these days are really good, better than most riders IMHO. Especially in the mountain segment they are basically what a custom/built sled was just a few years ago, but with way more reliability. They all have their strengths and their weaknesses...
I don't think so. All the Q4 results posted so far are not good. Q1-Q3 2015 will be way worse. There will be more capital and staff reductions announced as this goes on. The trickle down effect will be felt by all.
Yes, existing/base production isn't free but it is certainly much better than new production. A lot of science working on minimizing the decline to something less than 20-25%/yr.
I certainly agree that oil is only one small part of the equation.
I think what has really changed with this...
Well said. Initial decline on new production is more like 20% for the first 2 -3 yrs, then it levels off to around 5%. Hopefully the capital investment is recovered in the first few years.
Happening across the board. Oil and Gas price is down around 50% and that means 50% less cashflow. Vendors will be asked/required to reduce rates so that supply costs (cost to produce oil or gas) get closer in line with commodity prices. Each vendor will need to make their own decision, some...
Oil won't be at $200 in the near future. Way too much over supply and it's getting worse. It will take many months to get the wells that have been recently drilled through the system. Capital programs are just starting to fall off. Right now it makes better "economic" sense to pay contract...
The 154 is probably all the track that is needed most of the time. The 3" track is only a benefit on the deepest days (not many of these in any year) and it's really a drawback the other 95% of the time.
I find the 154 washes out too much for me and just isn't forgiving enough anymore (getting...
I am not a fan of tuners, but our Son had an Edge in his Duramax and replaced it a couple weeks ago with EFI Live. It's hard to believe how much better/smoother the truck idles, runs and shifts. I think it might be better than stock. He had it installed in Calgary.
Thanks Fred. Any issues with the Voltage? I would look at a fifth wheel too. I am not too familiar with the Toyhaulers out there. We used to have a 30ft Corsair (General Coach version) that was a great trailer. We now have a Nash (not near the quality). We want a good quality Toyhauler...
