What's your deal?? Want them to re-invent the wheel every year? Lol. Put a 174 T3 up against any new release this year and we will see what's lame..... They JUST released a new benchmark in the mountain sledding industry last year... Crazy new colors...... Now they are "becoming lame"? When did they start to become lame?. They are constantly having big releases....PS: your concrete info is wrong there big timer.

Benchmark changes in mountain industry. LOL. Yeah they put a 174 on a 7 year old chassis that's been bandaided every year to make it keep up with buyer expectations. Great sled works well, I like it, but don't bang your goofy Doo drum and pretend like they reinvented mountain sledding. And apparently you're one of the few who haven't been out riding wih a T3 174, 3 inch and a Pro with a 174, 3 inch. The Doo will probably out climb it , but in fun factor and ease of riding and turnouts on a climb and pretty much everything else, they are really close. If Polaris puts a Pro out with a few tweaks and a bit more HP, it may be a different story. It's a lipsticked XP wih a stock track feature some of us had on our sleds in 09 or before, and a lot of guys went away from it, too specific purpose, but for you, now it's revolutionary. LOL.

Good for Polaris, hope they keep going with the Pro, it was designed for the mountain guys who want a lightweight sled built for deep snow. So far so good I say.

I think the sleds from all the manufacturers these days are really good, better than most riders IMHO. Especially in the mountain segment they are basically what a custom/built sled was just a few years ago, but with way more reliability. They all have their strengths and their weaknesses. Hard to fault the Polaris chassis or the Cat or Doo engines. Even the four stroke Yammi has a place.

Maybe an option for BRP would be an etec turbo for those very few that can really use the extra power. For me, I would pay more for a 'factory light version." But for the masses, BRP offered a really competitive and reliable lineup for 15.

I have owned all the Skidoo versions over the past 20 years and with the exception of the RT 1000 and a couple other first year releases, for the most part, they have just got better over time. The 05 RT NFG, took a year to get the 08 XP as good as the 06 Rev. I don't know what happened to the 2010 XP engines, but turds against the other years. How about the first etec's (like 07, a free top end for everyone).

I just put a 163 2.5 under the old ptec 2013 Sport, clutched it properly and it works every bit as good as everything else out there most of the time and for about $10k. Not very "splashy" but a great value (best ever from BRP) and plenty good enough for me.

I also get a good laugh at statement's like "industry leading" OMG...LOL. Doo, Poo, Yam, or Cat haven't lead anything since the mod industry started.
All they do is check out what the mod builder's are doing, aftermarket peep's are doing and copy in there version...hahaha, been like that for years on pretty much every thing found on your sled with the exception of a couple of questionable gimmick's. Other then a basic chassi most all came from the mod builder's.

The list will pretty much include everything on your sled other then basic oem chassi.
We've been using the 174 tracks WAY before the T-3 came out, BRP saw what could possibly make THEM $$$$ and took advantage of it.
POLARIS saw an opportunity with the cog belt drive unit that seem to be gaining in popularity..ie C3 drive and made their own version, with the thought of gaining in sell's.
But to claim they LEAD or any of them lead is ridiculous.
If you want to know what might be coming down the tube, just keep in touch with the aftermarket mod builder's, chances are you will be very close to knowing by what they are doing most.

The industry doesn't lead they fallow. AND yes the current sleds are much better then the previous older sled's...but heck that was a saying 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago.....hope they are getting better. In 10 years from now we will look back at the current 2015-16 model and laugh on how crappy they were and how they've changed.

This year and the last couple years the mod shops have been a little quieter so don't expect to see much from ANY manufacture builder's other then minor refinement's.
But i can tell you i do see 2stroke turbo's in the very near future as an oem offer. Thank's to the aftermarket refinement's in this mod.

I have no idea was the changes will be for the 2016 summits. I do know that skidoo doesn't just build mountain sleds so maybe the "big" changes will occur in their other sleds this year making for a big year in 2017 for their mountain sleds. I guess we will see tomorrow.

Yes, so true! The bleeding edge. The manufacturers won't take the risk, they all will wait to see what works, what doesn't, what is popular and what isn't! The guys that designed, built and refined those custom sleds to work where they need to work, brought the sleds to where they are today.

Ya the 174 3" isn't revolutionary but doo is the first to have it in a production sled. Now that poo is finally offering a 160hp sled it should make things more exciting going forward for the big 3. As for doo lip sticking an xp we could say the same for poo lip sticking the pro for 2016. I guess it all depends on how you look at it or want to look at it. All sleds are improving and getting better and better. We should just be happy with that.
Still, no one knows if the 2016 summit is just new colours or if we actually may be surprised with some of the changes.

one could argue that the rider forward position was the idea of an OEM. electronic reverse was from an OEM. 16" wide track was an OEM idea. may not be game changing ideas but beneficial to the sport

Yea lets take your 8 year old sled with a 174 and see who's tired first. Any sled with a 174x3 will likely climb the same but to say an 08 xp or similar with a 174 is the same as a 174x3 XM t3 is absolutely ridiculous. Fun factor and ease of riding is in a whole new category

Consistently having big releases? Maybe in a literal way, yes, the 174 is large. I don't think the 174 is as big of a game changer as you think IMO. I don't have anything against doo, I own one and enjoy it, but I would like to see them replace an 8 year old chassis.

I like the progression Polaris is making. Sure they have had their issues but they keep pushing lighter while making improvements to strengthening the problem areas each year. Skidoo made a 430lbs 154 in 08 and it had it's issues but just kept adding weight for strength. Polaris had a 430lbs 155 and dropped 14 more pounds to 2014 while improving their problem areas. To me, that's a benchmark, not longer rails.

You'll disagree which is fine, you're a salesman and you want to sell your product , and obviously won't down talk your line.

Replace it with what? A snowmobile is a chunk of aluminum with a track engine and skis. Skidoo NEEDS to get lighter but again I really don't understand when people say they need to replace the chassis? With what? One ski? A seadoo for snow?

Well got some concrete info on the new line up last night from doo... Once again nothing different in the motor department, and other than some different graphic colors, that's it

very very lame doo, your becoming a piss off..

Lol. Ya when are they gona release a sled like yours that's built by nasa with about the same success as some of the space missions. No thanks. Reliability over insane power for this guy. Some people actually don't enjoy wrenching and helicopter rides. Shocking I know. Not that I would ever turn down extra HP but it needs to be reasonable and reliable with the same warranty

I want a groomer special Skandic SWT with the 900 ACE in it. Like the Cat groomer special. Something that will help smaller clubs get on the groomed trail program or at least try to make the trails better.

This isnt all about mountain riding is it?

How about a new entry level sled for the youth. Bigger than a 120 but smaller than a MXZ. Like the size of a old Elan.

So not surprising when a 162 or even 154" sled keeps up to a 174 x 3" in these "epic powder" days we've had lol.
I'm OK with minor changes, working the bugs out of the current iron. As I've aged, I know for a fact that I can't ride a stock sled to it's capability - my abused body simply won't take the punishment. But I can go more places then I did 10 years ago, with less rider effort... a "win win" for me.
Oh by the way T-Team... I bought a 159 HMX in 2004, and it was too damn long - the 800 HO simply didn't spin the track fast enough for my liking (felt doggy), and no amount of gearing down or clutching would help that turd. My 05 151X was twice as much fun to ride in 90% of the conditions. The new sleds with single ply tracks can spin the 162's with authority, something the older 800's couldn't do with the heavier tracks, although they would tractor along in the fluff.
Not picking on anyone or any brand - they've all improved over the years (thank god!), and they've certainly made the aftermarket work harder for their money. (Suspension manufacturers seem to be doing better then the guys selling pipe sets, big bores, or turbo kits). All of the manufacturers are doing a great job walking the fine line between performance, warranty, and net price to the end user. Just don't expect to sell your one year old sled for anywhere near what you paid for it.

I agree. But it WAS too damn long. Now big sleds like that are he standard.
