The shim is for belt alignment so unless your having belt alignment issues no. Is the sled a mountain cat if so? Have you been riding at lower elevation and or high speed? That could be contributing factor along with weak springs, wrong weights, low gearing etc. I would clean up the clutches and try it again in the elevation and conditions it set up for.

my 2018 also had the right plug to plug into the magnetic tether. that one your holding looks like an accessory plug not the tether plug. but if you do need the harness you can get it here

Seriously I would take to Dragonweld on here. They have Niners Alpha working pretty good. Check out some of their threads, I believe they have the stock Alpha at 49 MPH track speed, correct me if I am wrong. Why reinvent the wheel if their kit works that good just buy it and your done.

For guys who have yanked off the chainchase cover before what did you do to get rid of the air in the oil lines?

Can a guy jump 12V to the pump to prime the lines?

pre mix the first tank or so. that will give you some extra oil while the bubbles work though. or jump power to the oil pump and run it

Is there a right way to index the movable and stationary sheave?
I accidentally washed off my sharpie mark......
I am guessing this is the correct way?

no I think hes saying it was assembled and balanced as one part. now disassmbled, it will have to be re aligned to the same to achieve the same balance. there needs to be match marks.

Hmm, doesn't mention anything in the service manual.

Going forward I’d recommend a scribe or small center punch to keep the alignment marks.

If there’s nothing in the manual and no hard marks maybe it doesn’t matter?

Yeah I talked to the at the shop today and he said it doesn't matter but he always aligned it the way I have in my picture.

But I like your idea of a small scribe, will do that on the next sled.
