Will setting a sled on top your tailgate hurt it?

Thanks for all the replies and experiences guys! I think I'll run with it up but like suggested will put a log or two under the track to take 90% of the weight and strap it down tight. If I would have thought of this earlier I would have 3m'd the tailgate but since im leaving in a few days I think the log would be a better idea.

Or you could take the tailgate off all together? put it beside the sled instead, wrap it in a moving blanket and strap it to the box so it doesn't go anywhere. get's rid of you risk bending or chipping your tailgate.

Just drop the tailgate, its a truck, not a frickin lexus.
