Which store did you see that? Which models?
Future shop, the best comparison I could find was $700 difference with the online sale prices..Their MSRP was like 1200$ difference.

LG 1080 smart 120 vs 240
And when I was in B.B. the upgrade seemed even less appealing.

Here is a not bad deal for a 50" smart tv with 240hz. Even mine when it came out was on the market for $2100 but I have found that the picture quality is worth the extra money but that is all personal opinion and you will figure out your own. Don't forget that the pictures in the store are also in demo mode so it makes the higher end tv's look worse than they are capable of and the cheaper tv's are set for pretty much the best they are capable of.
Here is a smaller version of my tv which has almost everything except 3D and even through the Sony store itself isn't really that expensive for the options you get.

Sony Store does price matching now, they didn't before. if anyone sells a Sony product for less than the Sony Store they will match it. great price on that one, I have almost the same in a 55"

Mine is the exact same in the 55". Would have liked the 3D but I have no complaints at all with this tv.

.

think this is the same as bestbuy / future shop

it should be mentioned that due to the extremely thin nature of LED tv's, the stk speakers suck. i bought a 55inch haire last winter and it was unbearable brought it back and got a Toshiba , (should have got a Samsung )

you guys rely think a smart tv is worth it ? why dont you just hook up a laptop, many have hdmi outputs

from what I was told, it was for mainly convenience. wifi, and you need just 1 remote (if you use an apple tv or similar)

If you don't plan on using the smart features then no it's not worth it. But wow you can download movies right to your tv and have your note book or pad or laptop hooked up wireless so you have a keyboard to type on. My LG has a cursor/pointer that is operated with the remote and it's slow to type.
They have a deal of the week so it changes constantly. Just remember to ask for their promos on tv's and then hammer them on that. I got them to throw in HDMI cables($100) and a wall mount for it ($140) as well. Don't forget you will need an hd box or pvr in order to view the hd. If you pm me I can give you the sales guys name as he was super helpful

My LED tv actually has excellent sound out of the factory speakers. It doesn't give you any kind of surround sound like they claim it will but it gets very loud and stays nice and clear as well. I still use my surround system for everything though as it isn't the same without the sub and other speakers. As for the smart tv, I thought the same as you to start with "just a bunch of extras I will never use" My laptop doesn't have HD capabilities but I can run the internet off my tv and have full hd for downloading and playing movies, watching netflix, youtube and a bunch of other site that are preprogrammed on the tv's usb card.
Also if you only want 1 remote to run everything, Logitech Harmony one, have not seen anything better for a decent price. LOVE mine and don't know how I ever lived without it.

yes no monster cables at all huge waste of money!

also i dont know if they still make them, but they use to have ultra black tvs, pioneer had them in plasmas but i think sony or some one had it with lcds. Basically all tvs show black as grey because of the lights in the screen. with the pioneer blacks were true black, black as the frame. So with dark movies you see more shades of black and grey...

i went to fs yesterday, and there were no screaming deals. the sales guy couldnt sell his mom a tv. when i go in and ask questions, i like it when they explain and work with you on a proper unit, instead of just trying to say this is the model you need...

That is why I went through the Sony store. At the time they had really good salesmen there, couldn't get any decent info elsewhere at the time. Try Audio 5.1 sometime as well, the old Chinese guy there really knows his electronics and will give some good offers. I bought my Yamaha Home theater reciever there and got $250 of the price, just under the price they had the last years model clearing out for. They have a good selection of Tv's as well.

I finally bought a Samsung 55" smart tv.

The smart tv feature, has some of the stupidest features. The pecking away to type something in, like your email for netflix or anything else is just BRUTAL!

I saw on youtube about the samsung remote app, for your smart phone, and it isn't even avaiable in Canada.

Don't even think of navigating on the net, what a waste of time.
