What Did You Do In Ur Garage?

We have one for the wife's car and it works great, but I feel Cycle's pain. The mat is no good for sleds, the tractor or anything with studs/chains/skis etc.

I have a corner of my garage that sunk so I need to have the "enviro-lift" or similar type service come out in the summer and jack & pin the slab. I was going to talk to them about options when they come out.

- thought about top coating the slab with drainage installed but was told that I'd have issues with cracking and adhesion.
- thought about cutting a trench around the 4 sides and just using a squeegee & shop vac to deep dry.
- thought about cutting out a pit in the middle to put a 5 gal pail into - sloping of the floor makes this not a great option - water tends to run outward to the walls in my garage.
- thought about having 4' x 12' custom poly drip trays made to park the sleds in when they come in from outside with 30lbs of ice and snow on them.

- thought about burning it down and starting over with a bigger footprint and additional height

check out watts channel drains as well as their catch basins.
You can hook up a small sump pump or buy a drop in style and attach a garden hose to it, run it out your door or you can fill up a bucket when it gets full.
15 years of plumbing and I finally put the watts dead level system in our new house, tied into a running trap and then into the city sewer. Legal in calgary.

The wife and I have a on going project of the garage. Did a bunch of work over the New Years holidays. Still have a few more things to do but we are happy with the outcome. Yea I don't think a mat would work for me. I park my CTL in the garage in the winter a fair bit, I doubt it would stand up to it at 9,500lbs. On top of that I do welding repairing my buckets, etc occasionally so I'd be constantly taking up one of the mats in order to work on stuff. Also need to take up the mat to do any work on the vehicle with a creeper, etc. My floor is level, I don't get more then maybe 1/4" puddles so it would be easy to squeegee into some kind of basin.

My ideal plan would be a 43' trench drain right through the middle of the floor core a hole into the basement and tie it into the sewer, but i'd be cutting the slab in half and i'd have to put in a few piles to stop it from settling and that's a lot of work and i'm likely going to be selling within the year.

I would be hesitant to start cutting up the slab beyond 3/4" control joints to help water run if one side sunk already, you could have more settling issues.

Think i'm going to cut a hole drop a 10" basin in, then cut out a 1/2" drop groove to sit a grate on all the way around so it has support. Won't take a lot of work and I think 10"x10"x15" will hold enough water to last quite awhile.

It’s a loft it sled lift. I don’t think they are around anymore. I think they were pretty pricey but I found this one used.

how high is your ceiling? How big is the shop? Is the furnace working all the time to keep it that warm?

It’s 12’ high for 2/3 of the garage and 10’ for the last 1/3. The furnace is mounted on the 10’ portion. It doesn’t run that often. Hardly at all when I have the t stat down low. And in the -30 weather we had when I was out there it would kick on every 15 or so to keep it at 65. My garage generally keeps it above freezing in the winter without the furnace unless it’s really cold.

Installed aftermarket cold air intake on car. Installed ODBII bypass harness in trunk with “Burnbox” plugged in. Installed 3 buttons in steering wheel where there was a plug. Learned buttons to Burnbox. Car has a line lock using anti-lock solenoids now. Other button turns on intercooler pump and engine fan for cool-off in pits.
